It seems that the more lanes you stick on to a highway, the more traffic it draws and the more traffic slows down.

 | abichara (60) 02/01/2007 | But when everyone catches on to the idea of the express lane, it becomes less "express". And how about when lumbering 18 wheelers decide to jump on this lane? I think that different traffic lanes should have different speed limits, with the far left having the highest speed limit, and the far right having a slow speed limit. If someone decides to get on the left only to drive slowly, they will get a speeding ticket. Organizing the flow of traffic that way would likely reduce high-impact accidents and other problems on our highways. European expressways have done this with reasonable success.
