 | Underspin (24) 12/13/2005 | How does the saying go, "A cynicist is an optimist with experience"? It's a sad thing that caution is frequently a sign of wisdom, at least more often than not it seems.

 | Molfan (57) 09/30/2005 | This is true for me. Now in my forties, I have found that out. It is hurtful when someone betrays your trust.especially if it is someone i cared about.I wish I could learn to let it go and forgive a bit better. it sure would be helpful.

 | Donovan (129) 09/21/2005 | When you are young, you tend to trust everyone. Then your parents say, "stay away from STRANGERS", and it is very good advise in today's world, I might add! As we get older our trust in people is destroyed for one reason or another; either they lie to us, they cheat or they do any other number of unimaginable offences. Our hearts are broken through the years by family, by love, by friends, by co-workers, at church or wherever! Now that we are mature adults we are distrusting. Is there a solution to the madness, sure! I say, just proceed with CAUTION and realize that people are human and make mistakes. Learn to forgive. If you have been hurt, go to the person, try to resolve the issue, if it can't be resolved then let it go... you have done all you can do.

 | James76255 (17) 09/21/2005 | You know, when I put this list together, it was really kind of a joke. I didn't expect anybody to respond, but now it's in the top five active lists again. Go figure.
Anyway, with trusting people, I have slid downhill. I used to take a lot of leaps of faith. That quickly changed, and I only trusted friends and family. The last couple of years, for various reasons, I can't even do that most of the time.
Get burned enough times, and you stop grabbing touching the stove.

 | Randyman (103) 08/01/2005 | I will always be willing to trust people. It's my nature. And I have at times regretted it. But there are times, for whatever reasons, that certain people, just by their personality, actions, or personal history will cause me to at the very least, be suspicious. Hey! Momma didn't raise no fool!

 | Jar-Jar Binks (16) 08/01/2005 | All my life, I never trusted people. We live in a cynical world. There is no way that I'll ever trust anyone.
