Could do it all. Finished his degree early. Took the NBA by storm. Scared all guards he faced. Delivered in the clutch. If he played today, he would have more shoes, jerseys and plays on ESPN than most of the current crop of "stars". Great Player, Great Person - 5 stars for sure.

A great 76er who had a great local nickname - The Boston Strangler Toney was regarded by Barkley as one of the greatest 2 guards he ever saw. Great defender who was a terric playoff performer before a knee injury slowed him down. Toney was awesome for a few years, but a short career does not a 5-star rating make. . .

Here's a good link on Toney: http://nbadraft.net/maurer001.asp. Some highlights: Pat Riley calls him the the greatest clutch player I have ever seen. Barkley said that Toney was the only player on the 85 sixers that he was in awe of - and that team included Moses, Dr. J, Bobby Jones, etc. Danny Ainge used to have nightmares about him. Says Larry Bird, Do I remember Andrew Toney? The Boston Strangler? Yeah, I remember him. I wish we would've had him. He was a killer. We called him the Boston Strangler because every time he got a hold of the ball we knew he was going to score. He was the absolute best I've ever seen at shooting the ball at crucial times. We had nobody who could come close to stopping him. Nobody. I was just a little kid when Toney was doing his thing, but I still remember.

What the hell?! I didn't approve this. Who is Andrew Toney? Maybe I'm not as schooled in hoops as I thought. Wait, I just realized the fighter was JAMES Toney. Still don't know who Andrew is though. Could somebody please fill me in? He couldn't be that clutch if I don't know him. Was he a college star? Sounds familiar. And why the hell is he on here if I didn't approve him?
