I never heard of him before he compared Guantanamo Bay to Russian Gulags and Nazi death camps...So I just thought he was at least kind of a dummy.

Realistically, Durbin is a Senator from the minority party, so whatever damage he can do is rather limited. I can see where some will find fault with him, being that he's a very sharp debater who takes relatively liberal positions on a wide variety of issues. Sometimes he goes a bit over the top, like when he compared our terrorist detainment camps to the Khmer Rouge. What is that old saying about sticks and stones may break my bones but words can hurt no one? I think we need to get a sense of perspective here. Yes, he has said some dumb things in the passion of the moment, never a good time to say things on the record, and his tearful contraction came only after Democratic power-brokers saw the damage, but at the end of the day Durbin is no one to get worked up over.

He is yet another liberal trapped in a logical fallacy. That fallacy is that the liberal accuses the conservative of helping terrorism by actions abroad. But, the liberal does not realize that his remarks in Congress are helping terrorism itself! Ask people overseas why they say the Anti-American things that they do and they say things like I heard it on CNN. or Ted Kennedy said it! Dick Durbin is perhaps one of the most egregious examples of this mind-boggling fallacy. He compared the base at Guantanemo to one of the concentration camps that the true villain Hitler used in the second World War. He compared the actions of our soldiers to that of the evil Pol Pot or the enemy-of-freedom Stalin. The last time I checked the people at Club G'itmo were not dead, were given the rights to pray and religious ceremony, given classy foods like chicken in orange sauce. The so-called acts of torture are barely that--and besides, lives could be at stake. I hardly think that one person having water dripped on his head or having his religious book perched at odd angles are a big price to pay when innocent Americans lives could be at stake. Besides, I've read stories that say that some of the prisoners there don't want to leave when they are released back to their former countries! Sorry, Durbin, you're just plain wrong!

People like Durbin are trying to screw up America, but even Hillary is beginning to understand that liberals are losing the battle big time.
