Alexi Laiho HAS to be one of the top 10 greatest. Not too many guitarists can pull off singing lead and playing lead guitar at the same time. An all around guitar god, and could knock the shit outta any guitarist from the shitty new bands of today.

ALEXI wildchild LAIHO IS GOD!!!!! he is simply the best around..... he's got THE BEST (i mean it..) solos....... oh simply mesmerizing!!! listen to everytime i die and angels dont kill and all other songs..... u all will come to know how much he has achieved in such a young age!! and also, he writes all the songs by himself! just see bodom's lyrics and i bet u whores wont understand anything! its such top quality vocabulary! oh god.... he's too great for words. read the lyrics of any song while listening to the song.... i'm sure it'll give u goosebumps.....

Laiho is truly inspirational. The best melodic riffing and solos ever. And yes, he is better than Petrucci.

Hey I just wondering, does Alexi write all the melodic riffs on the keyboards and tell Janne how to play them, or does Janne write them? Also I figured his writing style out. In every melodic riff he writes, he uses these chord progressions every time: Lets pretend we're in the key of G major. Em D G Em, Em G D, Em Bm G D most every song I say. just thought all you guitarists would like to learn some his creativy skills lol

If you don't like Laiho, you're missing out on life and you should be sent to camps where you'd be executed. mattyx your comment makes alot of sense except for when you say that alexi's solos can be played by alot of youth, since when is skill the main factor of what makes the best guitarist in the world? anyone can practice all their life and eventually play the most technically difficult shredding ever, but not alot of people can be as creative as him when it comes to how memorable and original the melody of his riffs are. we're not talking about best SKILLED guitarist of all time. maybe there are those better skilled, but i believe he is one of the most gifted guitarists when it comes to what really matters- creativity.

He is a rather good player, somewhat versatile, but he lacks the ingeniousness and originality of e.g Blackmore, Page, and Hetfield and Kirk Hammett. I think he is good now, but he can become insane if he works hard enough and long enough.
