The so-called Palestinians will never stop their terrorist attacks. They want Israel's destruction, but Israel isn't going to go away. The only way to achieve some sort of peace is through a militarily superior Israeli Army, with leaders that are not afraid to strike their enemy when need be, world opinion be damned!

Easier said than done! Both sides have to "want" to come to an agreement on a wide variety of issues, many of which have been intractable since for many decades now. How will the land be divided? What happens to the Palestinian property that was taken by Israel? Will the Palestinians be willing to completely denounce terrorism? Will the new Palestinian state be able to govern effectively? Too many what if's here. Merely coercing them into signing an agreement which they perceive as bad won't solve anything.

Why does it seem that liberals favor the Palestinian cause in this matter? For a quick, accurate history lesson, browse through Scottrose's thoughts on this topic. And anyone who invokes the Camp David Accords (engineered by the famed geo-poitical genius Jimmy Carter) as a pathway to lasting peace, exposes his ridiculous liberal agenda and indicates why democrats don't do foreign policy very well. Republicans make enough mistakes but at least they tend to identify those who are trying to kill us as enemies. How long did Anwar Sadat live after the Camp David Accords before being machine-gunned to death on the parade viewing stand, where also sat his wife and several children? Here's what they don't get: Israel is an ally of the United States, a very reliable ally who needs us to survive. We have our differences and our problems with that alliance. But, when push comes to shove (or throat-slitting time) the US knows it can rely on Israel, and vice-versa. Has the Palestinian Authority, or any of its constituents, indicated any desire to become an ally of the US, under any circumstances?

wow, what an open-minded thread, posting pictures of palestinian casualties. i just want to mention that the policy of the Israeli government does not strike civilian targets. whenever they attack, they go after militants and terrorists. Those same terrorists intentionally build their bomb factories right next to elementary schools and hospitals because when innocent people die it is always blamed on the Israelis (see the above picture and caption). when innocents die in israeli attacks they are always unintentional casualties. compare that to the strategies that palestinian groups use in the conflict - they never, ever attack military targets. they only strike civilians - going into dance halls and restaurants to murder people in cold blood. anyway, i actually am giving htis a 1 for a reason. this proposal pretty much happened in 1993 - it was called the Oslo Accords. Israel agreed to begin giving back Palestinian land, the Palestinian Authority (the body that now administers the West Bank and Gaza) was created, towns were turned over to the control of the PA and security barriers were dismantled. in exchange the palestinians agreed to stop using violence. And what happened when Israel withdrew it's army from the West Bank and took down security barriers? terrorist attacks skyrocketed! the palestinians didn't even try to stick to the peace agreement, they just took advantage of the relaxed security to kill more innocents. the explanation behind this is pretty simple: polls of Israeli and Palestinian populations have been quite consistent for years. The people of Israeli overwhelming state that they would be willing to trade land for peace, if the Palestinians would come to the table (they almost always refuse to - Oslo being the only agreement they've ever been willing to sign). Palestinians who get polled overwhelming say that they would not coexist with Israel and violence is necessary. makes it kinda tough to hammer out a peace deal, huh?

Let me remind you of an old saying: if you hang two cats over a clothes line, with their tails tied together, you might have union, but you certainly won't have UNITY.
