As far as the big green trash bags, Hefty is a little expensive, but they are some of the best.

the best ones are with the drawstring but me i will just tie it myself if the price is cheaper on bags of similar quality. i see no purpose on purchasing the cheapest bags either if its going to take more than one to hold the garbage in cuz the first one ripped wide open.

The Hefty 39-gallon drawstring lawn and leaf bags are the best all-purpose garbage bags currently on the market. I've tried all the other heavy-duty deals and they've proven to be lackluster and downright undependable. For light kitchen use, you can't go wrong with the Hefty CinchSak 13-gallon white tall kitchen bags. Garbage bags used to be a lot stronger in the past, but since recycling came into vogue, they're getting thinner and weaker (Reynold's aluminum foil is an allied example). They could make 'em better, but they'd take forever to break down in a landfill. They'll get it right one of these days.

Just as long as it doesn't bust open. I've been using the same brand for like two years (well, the box lasts for a good part of the year, so I think I've bought 3 or 4 boxes of bags in the past two years. Hooray for wholesale clubs!)

I think Hefty did try with their super ultra stretch model, I was not impressed with it and the cost was prohibitive. I use regular Hefty lawn and tall kitchen bags. I think part of my problem is the human nature that tries to put 40 gallons of garbage into a 20-gallon bag!

They do need to keep working to discover a garbage bag that doesn't rip or the side doesn't pop open. The only thing so far that they made that improved the garbage bag is making tie-flaps, a lot more convenient that twist ties from the olden days!
