I know for my phone, the second ring is when the caller ID kicks in for me to decide to answer it. so any toll free, unknown,or people I do not want to talk too i will not pick up.  so I wait on purpose.

Hey, well, I gotta look at the caller ID before I answer it . . . if I don't feel like talking, I'll still answer the phone if it's from certain people just in case there's something really important they have to tell me. Otherwise, I'll just let the voice mail get it. As a word: yeah, I can see where it'd be useful.

The only reason I let it ring more than once is to make sure they're connected. Seems if I answer it too soon for some reason, the other end is usually dead.

Is there a standard operating procedure manual for daughters, and is this in it?
