 | EschewObfuscation (61) 12/16/2005 | UPDATE: Zealots from both sides care about money. The difference from my observation is that when it comes to generosity, liberals tend to prefer that the government handle it while conservatives tend to want to keep the government out of it. Both sides agree that in this land of plenty nobody should go hungry. When confronted with a catastrophe or natural disaster, conservatives reach for the checkbook while liberals start up a new government agency.
ORIGINAL COMMENT 7/27/05: Neither side has a monopoly on gluttonous pigs. Neither side seems capable of (or even interested in) reducing government waste, either, all philosophy aside.

 | bluetarbaby (8) 08/03/2005 | Lance Roxas is exactly right (no pun intended), that is what average Joe conservatives do. But I think the problem is, conservative leaders only care about money and power, while their followers like Lance think they care about Jesus. What these people don't know, is that they are pawns. And they will never know................they don't wanna know.
UPDATE: Lance is right, I don't undertsand a lot of issues. I don't understand a lot of things in general. Really, sometimes I don't understand a damn thing about this place. But I understand enough. And I'm not really that curious right now about why Al Queda wants to kill Americans. I was sort of wondering why Iraqis want to kill us? Listen Lance, I'm just speaking my mind. If I'm too simplistic and idiotic for you, don't read it. All I know is, the Republicans are flushing the world down the toilet, half of us don't seem to notice, and these devils wouldn't be in charge in the first place if they hadn't dangled Jesus over a lot of people who ended up voting for them. I undrstand that not all conservatives are religious freaks.

 | abichara (60) 08/02/2005 | And liberals don't either? That's the problem with two way thinking, it obfuscates rather than clarifies the real stakes at play.

 | Solenoid DH (19) 08/02/2005 | Actually, I'm more concerned about the moral climate in America...and about increasing government intrusion on our freedoms. But this image of conservatives caring only about money is a common one among liberal thinkers. It confuses me, because my liberal acquaintances (I'm just referring to the ones I know personally, of course) seem to have more money than I do. They're the ones who are always able to afford new cars, make repeated trips overseas, etc., while I'm worrying over just getting our kids through college.

 | LanceRoxas (40) 08/02/2005 | Yes that's why we're constantly arguing for moral values in the public square, against abortion, for the War On Terror even though it has cost at least 300 billion bucks, against licentious sexual behavior and pornography on TV even though its a billion dollar business- yeah conservatives are all about the money.***** Why is it that liberals are so brilliant yet the only conclusions that ever deduce from those postions with which they disagree is that the other person must be a Jesus freak, a pawn, stupid, evil, motivated by greed, or a host of other adjectives to explain something they can't comprehend? These people are the same one's who ignore data that doesn't comport to the preconceived notions of how the world operates; and will continue to argue for similar policy initiatives even though they've failed numerous times in the past. Ask them why members of Al Queda want to kill Americans and they'll immediately give you the canned response: that the poverty in the middle east breads the radicalism we are seeing; And America's use of force in defense of it's corporate interests is causing radicals to lash out. Yet, most of the suicide bombers are upper middle class and highly educated and have specifically stated the wish to impose their brand of Islam throughout the world. Simultaneously a highly educated American who opposes abortion- must be a Jesus freak (and of course that would preclude him from being correct)- even though he's never defended a single position from biblical scripture? Like say Robert P. George for instance- he's a pawn too? In reality it is people like BlueTarBaby who are so limited in their capacity to understand issues that they see them through only their mypopic perspective and subsequently induce motives that don't exist. John Rawls and Karl Marx were both geniuses- but I believe both of them to be completely wrong. Not because they were stupid. Not because they're some sort of freaks or pawns, or any other puerile simplistic crib I'd like to cradle my disagreement with them in. They're wrong because they perceived the universe in a manner that fractures under the weight of logic or application. This universe and human nature is so greatly complex that only those commited to ignorance limit the actions of others through their own tendentious perspectives.

 | Wavebacker (25) 07/28/2005 | Both Liberal and Conservatives care about money. It's just that Liberals believe in sharing the wealth and helping those who need help while Conservatives believe that it's upon those who are down to help themselves. Conservatives would rather keep their earned money than give it away to those who wont work for it.

 | texasyankee (21) 07/28/2005 | Excuse me, but I think EVERYONE cares about money. The only difference being that they both have their own ideas as to how it should be used. I seem to recall a lot of democratic politicians raising taxes, lowering spending and complaining when republicans want to lower taxes and spend money. If this is a reason you're liberal, then you're lying to yourselves.

 | excelsior30 (8) 07/27/2005 | It certaily is true. I have seen them acting like gluttonious pigs- they spend without looking carefully on what it really is for and waste it. They even take it for themselves.
