 | MICHAELSSMITH (0) 01/18/2007 | For the most part I like Liberal Politicans better at one time
I supported Conservatives over
Liberal untill I say the light
this does not mean that I think
that all Liberals are good and
All Conservatives a bad just

 | Drummond (54) 12/09/2005 | There are plenty of smart and dumb people on all sides, and frankly I think Bush plays up on the dumb image to play into the anti-intellectualism of some of his constituency. Yeah, I like many of the liberal pols, but probably I like them mostly because I agree with them.

They use certain hot - button social issues to seperate us politically, while they gather in their hollowed corridors to plan their next power grab.

 | Jar-Jar Binks (16) 08/01/2005 | Exactly. Democrats/liberals are much smarter and more aware of America's problems than Republicans/conservatives. The liberal knows that America has lots of work to do in order to improve conditions. Conservatives are lazy ignorant bums who think we should avoid the problems in our society and get on with our business.

 | magellan (153) 07/26/2005 | This one hits home for me. There was a really interesting San Francisco mayoral election about a year back. Gavin Newsom against Matt Gonzalez. Both liberals (we're talking about San Francisco), but Newsom was a moderate liberal, and Gonzalez was a Green.
Both of these guys were young, charismatic, and smart as hell. Anyway, my worldview was much more consistent with Newsom than it was with Gonzalez. But Matt Gonzalez was from my neighborhood. He was incredibly hip, had gone drinking with the Clash's Joe Strummer, was active in the arts, and was a brilliant debater. He lived in a rented, cheap apartment in the Haight with two roomates. He threw killer parties, had shaggy hair like me, and was clearly a guy that would be incredibly fun to hang out with.
Anyway, uncharacteristically, I voted with my heart and not my head. I voted for Gonzalez because he was so damn interesting, and was thrilled when he lost a narrow election to Newsom, because deep down I knew that Gavin would make the better mayor.
Very strange, and very unlike me, and I would imagine that this is the last time I do something like this. But it was a clear case of liking the liberal more than the conservative.

 | EschewObfuscation (61) 07/26/2005 | I suspect that most liberals, particularly young liberals, find a guy or woman with whom they identify and evolve from there. As a young man, I idolized John Kennedy because his youth and vigor was apparent. Funny that I did not identify with Johnson, try as I might to like him. JFK seemed more than smart and tough, I saw him as enormously patriotic.
