Liberals have much more respect for the values of Jesus than Conservatives. Jesus taught us to help the poor. Jesus taught us help the sick, and the weak. Jesus threw the money changers out of the temple. Jesus never talked about abortion. Jesus never talked about homosexuals. A Christian first and formost follows the new testament. These are values.

Liberals make value judgments. We just make different value judgments.

Yeah, of course. I'm a liberal, therefore I am android incapable of value judgements... In reality, I think it's a travesty that POLITICIANS are trusted to make value judgements.

Following bluetarbaby's comments, the latest opinion poll drawn from the citizens of 25 countries worldwide shows that what people see as American values have slipped off the board. America as a place to live is now 11th and as a country to emulate is near enough at the bottom of the list. People are turning their backs on Brand America. Something has gone wrong somewhere. A lot has had to do with the current administration, which has engendered feelings that America is not a very nice place at all based on all the laws that have been passed and the arguments that have been raging over there. The chickens are coming home to roost. However, the American people scored very highly on the list amongst other nationalities and their qualities could surely be galvanised to help deal with what is an eradication of your freedoms, indepedent media, diplomacy, by your Government. Liberals and conservatives should unite to reverse this trend.

I'm not even going to rate this item. I have a point to make, and I hope it will be received by us all (liberal and conservatives alike) without being discarded because the item was not rated. I have chosen to say it here and that's that. PLEASE don't delete this. ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))My point is: reading all these comments, I don't know of a time Americans have been this divided since the Civil or Vietnam Wars. We have two sides that hate each other passionately. You can say that's not how it is, but I feel it and I know that's how it is. The point is- the comments on this list prove where we are eventually headed. You all know what I'm talking about, and you may naiveley feel that is impossible. What I'm saying is, obviously somebody (Republican or Democrat) screwed up somewhere along the line. I see a dreadful future for us, and to beat a dead horse, I can't help but think of Rome. Don't say, but this is nothing like Rome and start reciting reasons. Truly think about it. I know you despise me, and will try your damndest to discredit anything I say. I'm asking that you forget that, and think logically. For us to have a reason to be at each others throats so passionately.......................SOMEBODY screwed up, and it wasn't Clinton! Are the terrorist winning? Are they? Forget Democrats and Republicans - look at these comments and ask yourself if we despised each other this much 11 years ago. Were Al Franken or Michael Moore or Rush Limbaugh or Anne Coulter such MAJOR topics of debate 11 years ago? Was there a reason for such a passionately, dare I say contested weblist 11 years ago? Something is going to have to give. Whether it be WW3, new leadership with different views, revolution, or the end of our empire, etc..........something has got to give. History has taught us this. We are in a mental Civil War right now. And I don't know about you, but I feel conviction on my views. Something has got to give. Now, don't accuse me of being some psychopath that wants violence among us. I'm just saying.....................somebody screwed up, and it has nothing to do with Clinton. We are a counrty divided. I understand this comment will be seen as too simplistic and not intellectual enough for some. But YOU ALL have understood what I'm talking about for several years now. We are headed down quicker than a Bangkok prostitute on an American sailor. You might think gradually, but in the scale of history it's quick. I don't remember this much mental warfare among Americans in the 90's. Are they winning, or are we going to find our intelligence? As far as I'm concerned, the comments on this list tell me, it's exactly what they want. Trust me, they're not stupid, and their goals are more complex than knocking down a building or two, or taking a few thousand lives.. They are biding their time - just showing some patience. Please don't interpret the last comment as making light of 9/11. I feel as much sorrow over that incident as anybody. I'm just trying to be real. Something has got to give. Right Left, whatever. Somebody is screwing up - whether it's your side or mine, think about it and come back and let me know.

Just because someone doesn't share your ideology doesn't mean they aren't capable of making (what you would consider) 'value judgements'. By virtue of holding a dissenting opinion they hold a value judgement. A pathetic cheap shot- if you want to trash liberalism, swing at affirmitave action. . .

The world is not black or white. There is only grey. Ethics are expected to differ from situation to situation and all values, cultures and beliefs are not wrong, just different. Except of course for those of that evil MF, George W. Bush.
