giving a convicted child rapist the death penalty is giving him the easy way out. he should be made to feel the pain, the fear and the degradation that the child felt that he raped and has now scarred for life. the child rapist causes injuries and changes in a child that are irreversible. we do need harsher punishments for animals like these. we need to stop giving them early releases or even releasing them at all and give our children and thi worlds future more value to their safe being.

I am with you 100% on this one. EDIT: magu, I see your point on it, but at the same time, if a parent was to find out this trusted friend was taking their child's innocence away, don't you think THEY would kill him before the courts ever did? Sorry but to me, child molestation is the basis of many mental illnesses. If I ever found out someone did this to my child, I doubt he'd make it to court. The sad part is I'd be rotting in jail for having this scum's blood on my hands. Also we all know it's incurable. They go right back to it as soon as they're out again. Why do we want to risk this happening to another child? Child molestors are a waste on society.

Wow, that's something to think about for sure. I can tell you this, if they are not killed by the state, they stand a good chance of being killed in prison. These sick criminals are hated and singled out by other inmates in jail.

Violative of the 8th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The punishment must fit the crime (I am sure that many would argue it does, but I don't).

It's already a capital offense in many states.

Yeah, but before you do that, you gotta also make it the law that they have certain body appendages cut off with a dull knife a couple of days before the execustion. I also have to comment that in my family, my wife is the real hard-liner on this subject. You don't want to know what she proposes!
