As a private school, Dook probably would be considered by most a better academic school. However, we are the #3 ranked academic university in America. Not to mention, the oldest public university in America. And at least we embrace students from in state, unlike Dook. Which is probably one of the main reasons locals don't take to Dook. Furthermore, compare our famous alums to yours. Not athletes, but regular students. Our's is a list too long for me to write here. But just a few are, great American writer Thomas Wolffe, great American writer Tom Robbins (nerds won't know him - Jitterbug Perfume), F. Lee Bailey, John Edwards, and MANY MANY MANY more. Now, who you got? - Elizabeth Dole! And our law school KILLS DOOK! Plus, our burn center at the medical hospital is #1 ranked in America! Plus, our hospital is not in the habit of dropping utensils in surgery patients' bodies. How many times has your medical program been sued in the past 10 years? - 5?, 6? Dook medicine takes too many experimental chances.

Duke is basically an Ivy League school located in the South. UNC is a vey good school, but is a State school.
