I write this three days after Hurricane Katrina. If you know the geography of Louisiana, this parish is the peninsula that sticks out into the Gulf of Mexico and the Mississippi River flows through and divides the parish all the way to the Gulf. This parish has been extremely hard hit by the storm. Little of it is above sea level and probably alluvium from the Mississippi formed the entire parish! What is left is yet to be determined. The parish seat is Pointe a la Hache.
