A film that you have see more than once, to appreciate it. The film score was a mixture of music by Richard Strauss, Gyorgy Ligeti, Johann Straub and Aram Khachaturyan, by the way.

Another fine film to set the mark. Again with the Williams original score to complement the visuals. Great stuff.

An original that set the standard for others to follow.

Thoughtful, better than average, and more literate than most. The closing twenty minutes is a little contrived though.

Excellent movie, esp. for it's time and it's rather faithful following from the Book. This movie also just looked great with special effects that were ahead of it's time. A great looking movie, told well with a great villian in HAL.

One of Kubrick's many, many masterpieces. HAL 9000 is easily the greatest artifical villian in cinematic history (even greater then T1000), and probably one of the greatest in general; trumped only by someone like Darth Vader or Hannibal Lecter. Simply an extremely scary look at the future, and something that probably scared a lot of people to death when they saw it in the 1960s.
