08/07/2005 | I do not object to the idea of each of us contributing to the maintainance of roads and public lands,etc. However,I think that our system has become top-heavy,inefficient and corrupt. I also think that we should have much more of a say as to HOW our money is spent.If I want my taxes to go to building renewable energy instead of more bombs,that is where it should go. I also think that everyone should pay the same percentage of their earnings- if you make less,you pay less.I don't think people should pay more than about 5% of their gross income,say 3% to Federal,2% to state.There are far too many hands in our pockets.Meanwhile,Corporations are getting over like fat rats.Tax them,not the people struggling to feed their families! Finally, Politicians make way more money than they are worth.They should get minimum wage-that way they'll be in tune with a larger portion of voters.
