 | ClassicTVFan47 (36) 10/19/2004 | Even more liberal than Mondale! He's voted to raise taxes over 300 times and if he had his way--Saddam Hussein would still in power (and in Kuwait too!) and the Soviet Union would still be around too! Simply put, Kerry's plan is Operation Infinite Appeasement!

 | CanadaSucks (45) 09/09/2004 | The liberal that actually fired shots in anger and dared speak intellectually about it? Gimme that over a conservative that never actually wore the uniform.

 | EschewObfuscation (61) 08/18/2004 | If you don't think he's a confirmed liberal (i.e. anti-war, anti-gun, raise taxes, pro-government regulation and control, pro-union and pro-choice/abortion) you aren't paying very close attention and are about to vote for a guy you know nothing about. If ever a candidate has been seen running furiously away from his voting record, it's John Kerry. With such a long, clear, consistent voting record available for him to point to for clarification of his stance on any issue, he chooses to obfuscate your view of who he is by directing your attention to his abbreviated military career which spans 1966-1969, and platitudes of how America ought to be today. What else does he talk about? What else can he talk about? Why would he not run on the record that got him elected and re-elected to the US Senate twice? Because nobody has been elected to the US Presidency on a record like that since FDR. Why lie about who you are and what you have done and how Americans can expect you to govern? Because if you tell the truth you will be soundly and memorably defeated. Ask Mike Dukakis, Fritz Mondale and Jimmy Carter. Ask Bob Dole. Ask George H. W. Bush. Ask Gerry Ford. His only hope is to do the Clinton two-step.

 | Anonymous (1) 08/03/2004 | You just have to look at how he voted on the Patriot Act and the War with Iraq to know he's not a liberal, he's a centrist. You should also have listened to his convention speech. You can tell he's not liberal, but a moderate.

 | zortan (7) 08/01/2004 | John Kerry is now known as flipper because he has flip flopped on so many issues. He voted for the 87 billion before he voted against it. John Forbes Kerry is promising things he can never deliver. His proposals will break our economy. He says he supports the troops but voted against funding them. This is why he is a flip flopper.

 | magellan (153) 07/30/2004 | He's liberal on the fundamentalist hot button issues like abortion, gay marriage, and stem cell research, but he certainly isn't 'liberal' on things like National Defense (wants to expand the size of the military), or even economic policy. His label of the Most liberal senator came from one vote - his vote against tax cuts (a vote which the Economist actually called 'fiscally conservative,' as opposed to liberal.) He's a budget hawk, and there's little question he would be more disciplined in spending than GWB. He has no plans to repeal the tax cuts (except for those making more than $200K). His stump speech at the Convention sounded almost, dare I say, Republican. The one area that he scares me a little is his stance against outsourcing. At some point, the conservatives may have to go after Kerry's policies, as opposed to just throwing out the 'liberal' label.

 | abichara (60) 07/29/2004 | In terms of the Senate, yes, Kerry stands left of center. Granted, the upper house is far more moderate than the House, which tends to be more ideologically polarized due to more localized representation. In reality, Kerry is about as liberal as Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Tom Daschle and the rest of the Democratic caucus in the Senate. He's really more of a moderate, especially when you compare him to others like the late Sen. Paul Wellstone or even Ralph Nader. Or course the meaning of the term liberal is truly in the eye of the beholder. Many conservatives consider John McCain a liberal, although his record shows just the opposite. Many considered Howard Dean a liberal based on his anti-war position and support for homosexual unions, but on the big issues, he was very conservative, especially on fiscal priorities. I guess it comes down to where a person's priorities are, if you put a lot of emphasis of the social issues, you're going to find that Kerry is left of center once you pin him down. On fiscal issues and foreign policy, Kerry generally represents the neo-liberal consensus. Nothing really radical here, just a continuation of Clinton's 8 years in office, which isn't very different than George Bush in terms of actual policy goals, especially with regards to foreign policy.

 | louiethe20th (73) 07/22/2004 | You guys that don't believe he is the biggest liberal around, Eat These Facts!U.S.News and World Report-Kerry's voting record puts him to the left of most Senate Democrats.Nonpartisan National Journal rated the Senators for 2003 according to how liberal they were, with voting record being the determining factor.Kerry-97%,Barbara Boxer(like the dog)-91%,Hillary Clinton-89%,Teddy-boy-88% and that whimpy little fairy of a man,Tom Daschle-80%.This man is not THE liberal?Kerry voted against banning partial birth abortions, against Bush's tax cuts, against approving a GOP budget to cut spending and taxes, against a balanced budget constitutional amendment, against allowing vote to ban human cloning, against a vote to create educational savings accounts, against a permanent repeal of the estate tax, against Genetic privacy, which would restrict use of genetic information by health insurers, Unbelievable! He voted to expand hate crime legislation! Is there a love crime? He voted against the first Persian Gulf War, he even voted against a ban on burning the flag! This man is pro-choice, against the Death Penalty and against parental consent for minors to have abortions. He thinks MY TAX DOLLARS should be used to fund abortions and support places like Planned Parenthood!FEDERAL DOLLARS!You need anymore facts backing up whether he is a liberal, let me know!!!
