Finally, a celebrity who isn't like the "hate America" Hollywood crowd. He's also one of my favorite actors.

Uh, Gibson is religious, but he's not necessarily conservative. He recently attended an event with Michael Moore, and praised F911 while stating his opposition to the war in Iraq.

Im a big fan of his. Like most of what he has done. I dont equate this with celebrities who are vocal about politics..I never have liked it and never will. I will usually just say shut up and sing or act or whatever. He did take the opportunity to make a movie about something he thought should be put into film. And everybody who does this is taking advantage of the opportunity to put forth ideas. I did see the picture. I honestly just thought that he was using "shock" methods to convey the message. Do we need to try and understand how much Jesus suffered at the hands of the Romans, yes. Do we need an onslaught of an hour of hollywood gore to get the point across? No. I usually go for authenticity in movies, but anything can be over done. I believe it was done in this case not to bring to front his political or religious agenda, but because it sells seats. Thats ok with me, but I did not consider the movie even close to one of his best. I do applaud him making a movie that would surely alienate some of his fans. Its easy for all the other hollywood weirdos to spew their liberal rantings, they know they have most of their peers approval. Go against the grain when it matters. That shows charachter.

Profitted off of people's faith. Yep, I'd say he is a conservative. What has happened to this this guy? Strange how when his political views were not widely known, people liked him? What a coincidence. UPDATE: Well, I can't have Telletubbies because they are homosexual devil worshippers, and I wouldn't want to make anyone feel weird about buying one. As for, Gibson, yeah he's popular among his newly found conservative fans. His old school fans have sickened of him. On the subject of Gibson, a question has been on my mind: Why was violence in movies suddenly okay when The Passion came out? You guys should make up your mind - do you like violence or not? One would think that, one who can handle Romans killing Jews on screen, can handle Uma Thurman annihilating some bad guys? OR at least be able to see 'Saving Private Ryan's' realistic war interpretations on network tv, that shows what our boys truly go through in war ? Be we wouldn't want to create any new anti-war people at the moment, would we? UPDATE: Ah, the true story of Jesus. Here it is , carpenter dude powerful men chose. That was easy. Who better to tell the true story of Jesus than Mad Max himself? I'll be damned if I'm going to listen to some dumb Oxford historian before Riggs. Personally, I've always wondered why God waited so late to have kids? Really, in the massive scale of history, BC was like 10 minutes ago. What happened to those before him that never knew he existed, therfore, were unable to accept him? I guess every couple thousand years, there's a new guy? Zuess, Egyptian gods, etc? I know I know, blind faith is the best kind, right? Easier for everyone that way, huh? I'm going to hell aren't I? DANGIT, if only I hadn't used logic and not listened to those stupid Oxford historians. See, I knew this was going to happen. DANGIT. One minute I'm using common sense and the mind God gave me, and the next I'm roasting like a marshmallow. Gosh darnit! I can't win for losing. Why aren't ya'll Jewish? And another thing, I'm sick of people from various nationalities claiming Jesus was black or Mexican or whatever. I don't believe in Jesus as an immortal, but I know he existed, and I KNOW THERE WEREN'T MANY BLACK OR MEXICAN PEOPLE IN ISRAEL - so what gives? You guys shouldn't even be Christian in the first place. Your religions were taken from you. If I were you, I'd spend less time saying Jesus was this or that race, and more time wondering what your REAL religion is. Your ancestors' religion. I would hate Christians if I were ya'll, but that's just me. You guys were all about nature, stars, animals, hard work, REAL THINGS, and now you're all serious about fairy tales white men forced on you! That doesn't make sense. Jesus is black?!!!!!!!!! White men made up the story of Jesus! Why would they make him black? Think about it. And how the hell could Mexicans be in Israel in those times? And even if they were, they would've been slaves, not somebody locals followed passionately. Nothing racist - I love partying with Mexicans. I'm just saying.........

The very notion that Mel Gibson unpopular now because of his faith is, quite frankly, stupid. If anything, Gibson is more popular now than he has ever been before and has been complemented on by both sides of the political spectrum. Why is it that because Gibson (who has always been a staunch Catholic) chose to portray the suffering Jesus Christ had to go through that he is now a has-been. And I doubt that his orginal fans would turn their backs on him because he's a Chrisitan.UPDATE: Bluetar, are you trying to tell me that the pain Jesus had to endure is comparable to Uma Thurman's attempts at keeping people from leaving the movie theatre. C'mon...
