Costa Gavras best movie - about the military coup in Greece following WWII. Very compelling and great performance by Ives Mondand.

Beautifully produced and directed. Always makes my list of top ten foreign films of all time.

Actually, Genghis, I saw the movie when it first came out and liked it, saw it about ten years later and liked it, and rented it about a month ago and still liked it. Sorry, pal, don't agree at all. A taut, well directed and scripted film, with some witty, even slapstick moments.

More than a few moons ago I lived in a small city and joined a foreign film club. We had heard all the blah! Blah! BLAH! about Z and we brought it to town for viewing. What a disappointment. It is directed by Costa-Gravas a Greek commie director and starring Yves Montand a froggie commie actor about a political assassination and its aftermath. Talk! Talk!! TALK!!! sums up this snoozer. It is an historical curiosity and nothing more. The Hollywood leftos rose to the occasion, however, and gave it the oscar. If you want to waste your dough, if you can, rent it and see for yourself if you don't believe me.
