I was so in love with Alan Alda back in the day. I still like him, even though he's not so young anymore.

Anyone that took this show seriously and judges it on that basis, needs to rexamine themselves. The show was ment to poke fun at a terrorable event in U.S. History.
This series made some very important and poinient observations of Military Police Actions. Had GenghisTheHun, and his few WWII & Korean Action vets watched it more then once, they would have seen the important issuse about military life during a questionable military action.
Unfortunatly you gave the show dishonor, and we should give your rating (since you only saw it once, as you stated) no credt.

This anti-Viet Nam War show was as unrealistic as they come. I grew up with WWII and Korean War vets all around me. I watched MASH one time with a few of them in the viewing audience. They were unanimous, that if anyone acted like the cast of MASH in Korea, most of the cast would have wound up pulling down about ten years in Leavenworth, let alone losing their lives. Korea was a vary dangerous place. This series stunk!

I still watch re-runs on the Halmark channel.

Despite its sometimes overt political agenda, I liked (and still like) this series a lot. Phenomenal cast - I've never really been associated with a medical unit in the military, but overall, I think the series portrayed how soldiers really act, talk, dress (i.e., uniforms aren't always so uniform in appearance) better than a lot of other military series. For some reason or other, years ago I got nicknamed Hawkeye by some of the military guys I worked with, partly because there is a faint physical resemblance to Alan Alda, but mostly because I seem to have had an attitude problem at times.

MASH was a great show when it was on the air, and it still holds up today. Growing up, everyone in the house had their favorite shows, but MASH was the only show we all liked and would watch together. Great charecters, well written, and impressive how they got 11 seasons out of a war that lasted only 3.
