 | CanadaSucks (45) 06/13/2007 | It can work. . .but have you ever noticed what passes for 'chili' on a hot dog?

 | Djahuti (53) 11/12/2006 | Once in awhile I'll go for a chili-dog,but being a bit of a "chili snob",I usually prefer to eat it (good chili)separately.

 | bluetarbaby (8) 08/07/2005 | Chili kicks so much rear end, it is NOT EVEN FUNNY. All this talk of weiners is making me hungry. There was a cookout today but I missed it. See, I call it a cookout and not barbecue, because there was no barbecue. Anywho, CHILI ROCKS! Check out my new list about awesome human beings! Again, chili rocks. I never said it didn't. I hope chili isn't mad at me.

 | Randyman (101) 08/07/2005 | UPDATE: Tboneya, the way you articulate your comments, and the respect that you show everyone, is the number one reason that you are one of the most respected reviewer on RIA, across the board! Kudos, from one Chili lover to another.
This is probably my favorite way to eat a hot dog. Smothered in Chili, cheese and onions, and some tabasco sauce.

 | texasyankee (21) 08/06/2005 | I love chili on my hotdogs, unfortunately don't get it nearly enough that way, nor do I buy/make the chili to put on it, too often. Just like bacon, a bit fattening.
EDIT: Bluetarbaby, most likely if your mother talks anything like you do, the blushing is NOT because of the cooking.
And personally I am not a kidney bean person, and do NOT like beans in my chili. I hate hamburger meat chili as well, but on a hot dog, it's ok. If I am going to have chili, I use
Cubed chuck steak/roast and chorizo, jalapenos and CORN. I don't know why, but I like corn in my chili. If this is northern cooking, screw it I LIKE IT. If your mom brought out a pot of her chili and it had beans in it, trust me the beans would be on the side. I like it ON rice, with grated sharp cheddar and if there's any sour cream, that goes on top too. I have to put out the fire, somehow!

 | James76255 (17) 08/06/2005 | A chili dog is a whole different animal for me. A hot dog is something you can pick up and eat, while a chili dog requires a fork. Lots of chili for me (real chili doesn't have beans), with cheese and onions.
*Dude, get a life. I'm not from New York, I'm from Texas, so I think I know a thing or two about chili. Enter any chili cookoff worth damn and they don't allow entries to include beans because REAL CHILI DOESN'T HAVE BEANS IN IT.

 | kamylienne (77) 08/04/2005 | My preferred topping . . . assuming, of course, that it's good chili.

 | AndrewScott (71) 08/04/2005 | Where I'm from, many are addicted to the taste of chili cheese coneys. The chili is always the thick kind without the beans, and the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the chili dog is quite generous. My parents wouldn't buy me these as a kid (not understanding local tradition), but I quickly became addicted to the taste combination once I left for college. The right recipe for a chili cheese coney beats a plain hotdog anyday, in my book.

 | Graymalkin (51) 08/04/2005 | I like chili dogs a lot. By the time I have finished putting the large ladle of chili (no beans), handful of shredded cheddar cheese, melted (no processed stuff) and garnished with some chopped onions, I need a fork to eat it!
