Our 2005 Freestyle already has over 40,000 miles because it has become our main travel car. Husband has disabilities due to arthritis and in very comfortable in this car, can operate the seats and liftgate no problem. We have had 7 LARGE adults plus the picnic stuff, 4 adults plus all the travel and beach gear with room to spare. We've even hauled a mower and furniture 500 miles and nothign moved thanks to all the tie down hooks provided. We love the car, love the space. I swear the engineers must have measured every cooler on the market and made sure it fit behind the 3rd seat! (how wonderful) Rear climate controls are great if you carry 3rd seat passengers. The backup sensors are also a wonderful luxury that I rely on more than I thought I would! Gas mileage runs in the mid 20's and I wish that was better. I also wish Ford would have made an electronic liftgate optional - that thing is difficult for small women and for children but the good thing about it is that once it's up it STAYS up and doesn't sag down and bump someone's head like some vans do. This car has better space than my brother's explorer and also does not sit up so high, making it great for kids, older folk with bad joints and short people. Yet you still sit up nice in the seat and can really see the road well, and not have the feeling that all the giganticus SUV's are trying to run you off the road. Visibility is also great with no big blindspots.
The styling is boring but it's a great all around vehicle.
