You have to like to play in the mud to get your coffee at Muddy's :)

It is not very clean, is noise, the crowd is weird and the coffee is not good. The positive part of this coffee shop is the location and also that they are open until late.

Not a yuppie coffee shop. The crowd is really mixed in here, and it's high traffic. The girls who work here are tough and jaded from having to deal with junkies trying to shoot up in the bathroom, and people trying to steal the coffee cup sleeves.

But the coffee is good in here, there's local art on the walls, there's a good community bulletin board, and more than any other coffee house in the neighborhood, Muddy Waters reflects the Mission in all of its decrepit glory.

Used to be a 5 start place. It's gone downhill.

Strong coffee here. Close to the 16th St Bart so you can always get your smack, get mugged, or take in a movie at the Roxie. The bathroom has a buzzer lock, you know the kind where the manager has to flip a switch to unlock it. Actually this place is depressing, but I still like it because the coffee is good and it is gritty.
