Parque del Buen Retiro 5

This park is fantastic. We visited on a Sunday and it was buzzing with people walking dogs, jogging, juggling, dancing, singing in a choir, practicing Tai Chi, sunbathing in bikinis and even 1 or 2 just watching the world go by, like us. The landscaped gardens, boating lake, statues and topiary really make this a special place to be in the heart of a great city.

We walked through the park again on a Monday morning and it was much quieter. As I sat on a bench in a quiet spot, caught some early sun and looked around, I thought that if you were going to propose to someone, then this would be the perfect place to do it.

A must do after you've been into the Prado museum
