GOP incumbent John Shadegg first won in 1994 and has consistently won 60% or more of the vote in this district. The district is GOP but not overwhelmingly so. George W. Bush polled 58% of the vote in 2004.
Shadegg was born in 1949 and is an Episcopalian.
