	GenghisTheHun (168) 11/30/2005	This is a solidly Democratic district in which Kerry polled 62% of the vote in 2004. Dingell is Dean of the House, meaning longest service of anyone now serving, having been first elected in 1955 to succeed his father who had served some twenty years in the House and died in office. Dingell's district used to be entirely within the City of Detroit, but re-districtings have changed it so now no part of his district is in Detroit. He has had a couple of primary battles because of being paired with another incumbent because of redistricting, but has never had trouble at the polls. He was held to 59% in 1994, but that was his closest election. He was born in 1926 and is Catholic. If he serves until February, 2009, he will have served longer in the House than anyone in history.
