That's a great start! Smile to yourself, then smile to the world, and it will smile back.

Acutally, doctors claim that when you smile, certain endorphines are released in the body, thus giving you a bit of a natural high. But you have to feel good in order for the chemicals to be released, so the key is to find something to smile about.

A smile is up there with saying "Hi" to someone. It portrays a friendliness and puts people at ease.

I've found that there is a vast difference in the way people will treat you if you smile at them. If the smile is genuine, then they will know it, and hopefully smile back. Or you can make bizarre, silly faces at them and wait for a reaction.

I am with Bird808, it is nice to smile if it is genuine. not one of those cheschire cat grins where you wonder what they are up to. or they are smiling through gritted teeth when their eyes say someting different.

I prefer genuine smiles ever heard of the song "tears of a clown" no thanks.

One of the five tenets of learned optimism. I find that smiling not exclusively as an emotion is very effective. The simple act (which, remember, takes fewer muscles than the uninspiring frown!) can easily change a mood for the better!
