Positive people put everything in the perspective when things feel brighter and more clear. They have this strong positive vibe and radiate positive energy and make you want to believe when you don't.

It's not always the case, but I have found that I will become depressed simply by hanging out with negative people, whether I was previously upset or not. I try to avoid the constant negative ideas. This doesn't always work, of course, but over the years I have become much more happy while hanging out with my friends who have "average" emotions.

For me, this is a true thing. I'm the kind of person that feeds off of the emotions of others. I'm pretty empathetic. So if the person I am with is happy, sad, angry, tired, bored, what have you...I'll pick up on it and it can effect the way I am feeling. Which is why I prefer to bide my time with people who are not sad and depressed and angry with the world around them. You don't have to be happy, sunshine human all the time.... because life happens...but also know that there is only so much a person can take.

This is true for the most part. When people around you are constantly negative it tends to make me feel edgy. Will I say the right thing to them? Its their problem but it wears me out to always feel on edge around some people. Im not saying that my friends can't have a bad day or go through a tough time, Im talking about the people who never seem to find the positive side of life. I try to spend most of my time with those who are more positive.

Being around sunny personalities sometimes rubs off. For others, it's more about avoiding negative people who like to rain on their days with the miserable comments they make. Some pessimists can be helpful when they help others be more realistic and think things through. Other pessimists are the opposiste of helpful, especially the misery loves company types.

Not really. I usually end up in desperate need of some Zoloft.

But, SamJung23, aren't you aware that reality can be defeated with enough imagination! ^_^ I find that associating with optimistic and upbeat people can be great. Many people tell me that they enjoying talking to me, reading my stories and stuff because I'm almost always happy or in an upbeat, optimistic mood.

Baloney. Who wants to hang out with unrealistic people?
