Everyone needs a support group be it friends, family or pets.

Everyone needs the love and support of others in their lives.

Having the support of others is important. Especially if something traumatic has happened to you or if you are venturing into unknown waters like Bird said about going out on your own.

I'm self-employed and have many dreams to branch out on my own. No matter what your doing and where you are you need a strong support network or "dream team" who believe in you, support you and love you enough to tell you where your going wrong or even compliment you when your doing well. I refuse to be around people who are going to tell me "I'm not going to make it" as when I do those same hypocrites will be the ones saying "I know her" my eye you do.
