I am so disappointed with Rita Cosby. Her new book is complete trash. In my opinion, she went from legitimate news journalist to trailer-trash gossip. The book is full of false and inaccurate stories that shes trying to pass off as fact. Im pretty confident that over the next couple of months all of her sources will crumble and she will be completely discredited.

Never liked her, I prefer Nancy Grace over her. She listens to rumors and prints them in her new book. Does not sound like a honest journalist.

I'm just so f'--kin' pissed that people in the public media take advantage of people for their own PERSONAL gain. Rita Cosby is nothing but a sleazy reporter who does not get her facts right. Her new book Blonde Ambition about Anna Nicole Simth, is nothing but trash. I hope she gets sued and gets whats coming to her. Both Vergie and Rita are pieces of CRAP! Can't wait for Karma to slap her right in the face... TRASH,TRASH,TRASH...

Rita has stopped straining her voice as before. I doubt that it was physical, but rather, trying to sound "different", in a business overcrowded with people trying to outdo each other.
She may have gone to a voice coach. She also got rid of the red outfits that she wore every day.

Wow. I am so relieved to find these comments. I too thought I was being too critical; As an official news junkin - msnbc in particular - i too was tripping over myself to either change the channel or turn off the TV when she came on. I figured she must be some very powerful person niece, girlfriend, daughter, etc. in order for MSNBC to have their. Listening to her just a few minutes ago, it sound like she is trying to tone it down, which makes me wonder; why are they SO determined to keep her? There must be a line of qualified reporters out there...why her? I just can't listen to her....

Too many of you got it all wrong when it comes to this lady.
Personally I disagree with plenty of her views on things. However, this lady is most certainly a very capable and qualified news woman. Her voice is different but unique and sexy. She's not petite, but she is beautiful. She has a style about her and I hope she maintains her difference. I think she could be less opinionated, but so could most of these news correspondents. Just imagine if we all looked the same, sounded the same, thought the same, worship and loved the same way. What a bore mankind would be! In fact, man's biggest downfall is this belief that we all should be the same. We need to learn to appreciate and enjoy the differences that make us unique and special to the world. We claimed to be fighting a war that people may be able to live their lives in perpetual freedom regardless of their faith, politics, gender, sexual preference, colour, creed, etc. Yet, we each other down for the very differences we claim to die for. Listen, everyone likes what they like. There's nothing wrong with that. These mean things we write and speak go out into the world and have a very negative or positive affect on someone else we may not had intended on affecting. Maybe, these words will hunt someone you love, like a child of yours or just someone you really do care about. God is the one who fashioned your colour, your size and height, the sound of your voice and the tongue that manifest it's language as well as the shape and colour of your eyes . Naw, there is nothing wrong with the sound of Rita Cosby's voice. It's a godly sound of a voice. There is nothing with how she looks. She is beautiful as we all are in the eyes of God and to someone earthly who totally gets and appreciates you. I am a married man who is blessed to have a woman in my life who appreciates me and I her. All I'm trying to say is that we don't need to tear at the spirit of a person. I don't agree with a lot of her views, but Rita still is beautiful, sexy, and intelligent.

Dear MSNBC...
Rita Cosby, as a PERSON, is probably a lovely lady. Unfortunately, we only get to know her as a newscaster with a grating voice. I'm sure she is well aware of it. As a person who had vocal nodes at one time, the raspiness in her speaking voice is a dead give-away that there are serious problems going on in her vocal cords. I SO can't stand listening to the stress in her intake breathing and speaking voice that I simply TURN HER OFF. There are far too many options for news reports. I would recommend that Rita takes enough time off of work to get some speech therapy...and/or whatever medical attention she needs to get this fixed. Ain't no way she'll have ANY speaking voice left in another 5 years...and then it will be too late!
A one-star rating? Yes...and it's mostly due to the poor vocal quality, making good communication impossible.

In fairness to her, I've never been able to talk myself into watching her show, so I can't really comment on whether it's as bad and superficial as others have said, and she certainly can't help the rasping Frank Costello voice nature "blessed" her with. But I suspect she's not the world's female equivalent of Edward R. Murrow. Keith Olbermann can barely keep a straight face when he ends his program with, "And coming next on MSNBC is Rita Cosby with the latest breaking news from Aruba regarding the Natalee Holloway case..."

She obviously has a serious throat condition which makes for a voice that is difficult to listen to on TV. She interrupted her 3 guests often tonight simply talking about Katharine McPhee (Am. Idol runner up). It's been in several magazines and I believe the newspaper that she has admitted to having Bulemia which has damaged her voice. Can't believe Rita or the 3 guests didn't know that. They kept talking about bronchitis and laryngitis. Not very investigative reporting...maybe that's what Rita has, chronic laryngitis. So annoying I switched channels...again.

hmmm...what is it about rita cosby's voice that makes me want to stick ice picks in my ears? my experience with her show would be akin to trying to navigate a mine field. as much i try to avoid her at all costs, there are times when i'll accidentally "step" on this piece of garbage show. and as i rush to switch the channel, i am entertained for a brief second by the thought that this woman might have a human husband somewhere in this world who must mate with her on a regular basis and what she must sound like as she is in the throes of passion. like envisioning the apocalypse, no man can truly glimpse a sound so horrifying, but i'll venture to guess that it might sound a bit like cows being sent to the slaughter, interlaced with the sound of a man choking on his own vomit, sprinkled with the the mating calls of silver back gorillas.

I have been covering the Holloway case since day one - and with this case Rita represents what is wrong with cable news shows. On topic after topic, rather than report this case factually, she takes rumor and lies and repetes them over and over in her disgusting voice - thus people (idiots mostly) believe what has been said is the truth. If she comes on one more time and say "breaking news" I know my tv is going to get smashed. What she actually knows about this case you could maybe put on a pinhead and that would be stretching it. She is disgusting, and unappealing and worse stuck on stupid!

OMG. I trip over my own thoughts just to get to the remote and get her off. MSNBC really shows poor judgement by giving her the job. Surely there must be someone better and more appealing. I cant stand to listen to her and I can tell u that there is no other news person on TV or Radio that sounds this bad. This woman has the most annoying voice that I've ever heard. Its quiet disgusting and I start to get sick if I listen to her more than few seconds. PLEASE MSNBC, get her of the air and let Bill Clinton give her a job. It wont be sexual.

Rita Cosby is not very good at her job, especially when trying to cast an informed political opinion. The thing on Chris Matthews' Hardball show on January 20th was a disaster.. I was listening on Satellite Radio and found myself switching channels each time she spoke... Why on earth would Chris Matthews do something like this.. It brings his credibility down a few pegs in my book.

Unfortunately people confuse what she does as journalism. It isn't. It's infotainment. Rita Cosby is as much a journalist as Jon Stewart is. She's at best a cheesy entertainer who tries to pass as a journalist. MSNBC has gone down the toilet over the years while desperately trying to eek out a rating point and finding it's identity. Left or Right-wing propaganda? Tabloid headlines? Who are they going to be this week? They've always tried to ride on the credibility coattails of NBC News. Huntley, Brinkley and Chancellor are spinning in their graves. --a former NBC newsperson.

I really dislike Rita's choice of topics, her questioning techniques, and the quality of her voice. She focuses endlessly on the trivial (how many hours can you devote to Natalie Holloway?); she sticks tenaciously to her prepared lists of questions even if her victim (interviewee) has answered them in the course of responding to previous questions. With a voice like hers, she should find something to do off camera.

I can't get to the remote quick enough to change the channel after Countdown. It sounds as if she smoked 3 packs, gargled with Old Grandad and is holding back a vurp whilst her lower intestine is squeezed in a vice. Gawd, what a voice! Yes, she sometimes covers events that impact the world, but WHY would ANYONE sit and listen to her talk? There are some things that just shouldn't be. I am a terrible basketball player, so therefore I keep my scrawny ass off the court. Rita has one of the worst journalistic voices I've ever heard, therefore she should not use it for her profession. Why all the ripping on poor Rita. She's hot and buxom. I loved the way she wore a black cocktail dress (or something like that) to New Orleans after Katrina hit. That's dressing the role. After the MSNBC suits got done with her, she showed up the next night dressed up like a fishmonger. She's also very talented. Throw her a beach ball and she'll balance it on her schnozz. Toss her some sardines and she'll clap her flippers and belt out a few "Awhhhrrr Awhhhrrr Awhhrrrs" for you. I first met her at Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey California, by the pilings, and fell in love with her. I rented a kayak and paddled to her near the rocks by Cannery Row. But all her brothers and sisters stopped basking in the sun and started chasing me. I paddled as fast as I could, before her family would have dragged me to the rocks and fed me to Rita.

Unfair that there isn't an option to leave ZERO stars... How unfortunate that when there is a topic in whcih I actually have an interest, I am compelled to change the channel when I hear her voice. it's like there is some sick joke or sociology experiment going on: and one of these days, there will be a whole segment about how they put her on the air to see how much bad publicity and feedback they would receive because she SUCKS so bad. Rita Cosby sounds like she needs surgery to fix a sinus problem. She also sounds like she runs out of breath after about five or six words, making her constantly halting speech pattern absolutely unbearable. Her interviewing technique is about as professional as a high school newspaper reporter. Most of her questions are comparison questions...."How bad is it?" "Compared to other times you've been killed, how bad was this time?" "How mad were you when your family was cut to pieces in front of you?" Just really, really bad and unprofessional reporting. I am a constant MSNBC viewer, but when I hear Keith Olberman hand it over to her, my remote control changes channels all by itself. Giving her a rating of one star is highly overrating her.

Rita Cosby is not a reporter or a journalist. She is a grotesque extrusion of the worst tendencies of contemporary television. Consider her an 'anchor hemorroid'. I think she should have a show where she displays and interviews discarded human body parts used in medical teaching schools. An absurd, one-sided monologue where she can't possibly seem unintelligent compared to her "conversational partners". I hope she is the first "television personality" to perish on-camera due to an act of war or terrorism, in high-definition, with 5.1 surround sound. Oh, forget it, that'll just make her a martyr to harebrained idiots everywhere. Really, she should live forever so as to create annoyance among future generations. Never mind, then she'll just become the new Barbara Walters, that other contemptible, celebrated, sanctimonious network hag.
