I don't think there is any greater duo than Gleason and Carney in the Honeymooners. I can watch them over and over. They didn't need to use foul language or resort to sexual innuendos. They shared with us the predicaments that Ralph and Norton experienced with their big but never well- thought-out ideas. The incredible thing to think about was that Gleason did not rehearse. The only drawback to this comedy team is that sadly they aren't still around to make us laugh and that I wish they had made more episodes.

These two had wonderful chemistry ,and the rest of the cast was dynamite too.Carney was in tip top physical shape (just watch him do the hucklebuck or any number of stunts) and Gleason, although hefty, was pretty agile too-(check out the episode where they all go skating!)

When I think of the phrase "classic comedy", this is what I think of. Timeless, hilarious and brilliant.

A miraculous pairing. Their timing and contrast are remarkable. It could be said that after Berle and Lucille Ball, the comedy of Gleason and Carney, more so than any other genres, made possible the popularity of early television.

Jackie Gleason & Art Carney were two of the funniest guys on television, ever. Unlike I Love Lucy the best gags were between the two buddies, as opposed to the husband and wife. I don't know if it was originally intended to be like this, or if it just happened and they ran with it. But it worked. Like I love Lucy, I can watch The Honeymooners over and over.
