It's somewhat amazing to read the experiences of others. Unfortunately more people complain than share the great news.
My fiance and I had spent days shopping what feels like EVERY jewelry store in town.
It just felt so robotic,"So what brings you in today"... Hello!!!!
When we went into Jared's we were actually greeted!!! The lady visited with us and spent time learning about US!!!
I have to say although we didn't buy that day she spent almost 2 hours educating us, and really finding out what was important.
I am now wearing my dream ring and have continued to have great experiences every time I go in to have it cleaned, which only takes a few minutes. I did have a loose diamond but it was fixed in 2 hours. Best in house repair in town when the other places had days to wait for any repairs to be done. The Tukwila, Wa. store was so awesome we just keep coming back.

very pushy salespeople! tricked us into getting an extended service plan without telling us that it costs money! and gave us a VERY hard time when we asked for a refund... then over charged us to take the links out of my bracelet!

I have had the worst experience with Jareds. My husband bought a promise ring for me 4 years ago. He bought the warranty just to be safe. Within a year 2 diamonds fell out. The first time we had to pay for it because they did not record my first 6 month inspection. The second time they replaced it for free because it was covered under their warranty. About 2 months later another diamond fell out. At this point we wanted a new ring or our money back. After many complaints to 3 managers they finally let us exchange the ring for a different setting. Several months down the road, a diamond fell out of this ring. I was furious, 4 diamonds in two rings, what is wrong with their quality? Again, they replaced the diamond free of charge. I have gone back every 6 months for a check up and the past 2 times they have noticed a loose diamond. 2 weeks ago I went in for my 6 month check up and low and behold, another diamond fell out. This time, I did not have my warranty paperwork on me. They pulled up my maiden name and married name and was unable to locate our records. They are not going to replace my diamond because I do not have my paperwork (which was misplaced). Their customer service is terrible. When they say they are going to follow up with you, I never receive a call, I have to call them and stay on top of the situation. PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANYTHING AT JAREDS. THIS IS A TERRIBLE ESTABLISHMENT!!!

I bought my husband's 5 diamond wedding band from Jared's 2 months ago. We got married 1 1/2 wks ago. He wore the ring for 9 days and one of the diamonds fell out already. Luckily he was able to find the diamond. I took the ring and the diamond back to the store and when I asked if the other diamonds were loose the associate told me "if you don't touch them they're fine, but yeah if you touch them the others are loose." Are you kidding me "if you don't touch them"???

They told me the ring would be ready by 5pm the next day for pick up. It wasn't. I had to wait for at least 1/2 an hour for them to finish it. I think the diamonds look crooked now in the ring. My husband's happy w/ the repair, but we've both said we'll never buy anything from Jared's again. I mean, are you kidding me??? 9 days!!!

I bought a 8000 dollar ring from this store for my wife among many other items. 2 years later the diamond with the bracket falls out while shopping, no luck finding it. We immediately went to the store, they said you out of luck. We called there main headquarters and they didn't call us back. Called again and they said you out of luck. I weld for a living and the bracket was welded on very bad it came clean off. This store took months to stretch and attach the ring and this is what I get. Now I have to go and pay 5500 dollars for a new diamond and pay to attach it on but not with these guys they are a joke. They should get out of the business if you cant weld. I wish I would have read the reviews before going there. What a nightmare!!!!!!!!! Thanks for nothing jareds worse store ever don't bother going there, Trust me!!!!!!!! Someone please get the better BBB after them.

1) Week 1 - Lost the original paperwork from April and then tried to tell us we didn't remember the rings correctly....Course, this has never happened before in the history of Jared...ummm, yeah...okay...We ended up buying a "similar" ring, the other was discontinued with no hope of checking other stores to see if there was one there. But I was told we could search every store on our own and if we DID find it, just let them know and they'll be happy to have it sent to their store (read - I will be happy to take the commission without lifting a finger).

2) Week 2 - The center stone was so loose it rattled in the prongs. I had it repaired (2 day turnaround, not bad) and they tried to give me someone else's ring when I came to pick it up. The sales lady asked me if I was sure....whaaaaaa??? Serioulsy??

It took 3 people about 20 minutes to search the safe and surrounding areas for my ring. Turns out it was in a different customer bag. Funny thing was they tried to explain later that the rings "looked alike"...The ring they tried to pass to me was oval diamond, rubies on side...Mine is princess cut, sapphires and trillion diamonds on side....Does that sound remotely close?? Nope, just not seeing the similarity there. More so, I couldn't believe she was trying to pass that one over on me when I was holding the wrong ring in my hands 30 minutes before that. Thank God they write serial numbers on the diamonds!

3) Week 4 - The prong on the side stone broke and diamond went down the drain...Nice...FYI-BUY THE REPLACEMENT COVERAGE INSURANCE. Quoted time to replace and repair - one week.

4)....Two weeks later....Week SIX (6)- and still no ring...(and counting) to replace a side diamond...
I believe they had to fly to the mine in Russia (maybe Africa) to get a replacement stone.

When my fiance asked when the ring would be ready for pickup, the sales lady replied she didn't know, they had no way of tracking these types of things from their corporate office....office must be in the Africa mine as well...

Overall: Poor quality ring - it's broken twice in 6 weeks now. Poor customer service - no one knows what is going on....Quite expensive for the quality and service...Had we been able to return the ring - we would have done so by now.

I ordered an enhancer for my engagement ring as my wedding ring from the Paramus, NJ store. I've had 4 weeks of run around and now am not sure if I have the right ring. When I tried the ring on, it fit nicely with a slight bit of room if my finger expands. When I picked the ring up, I could not get it on my finger. They opened it up and told me to take it home to see if my finger swelled from trying to get it on. I don't know how a ring goes from just right to so small it can't get on my finger. The workmanship after they expanded it is now off. The ring looks thinner on the bottom on one side compared to the other. My engagement ring also seemed too keep having flaws after they looked at it. I want to return my ring and go somewhere else. I never thought this would be such an awful experience. I'm getting married and do not need this.

Completely the WORST. They sold my wife and I a Tungsten Wedding band. It broke 14 months later. They won't refund it or replace it. They won't even tell me who the manufacturer is so I can contact them. DO NO BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM! I spent $2000 in there the day I bought my wifes ring and they won't even replace my $200 wedding band. They don not stand by their product. I would give them zero stars if I could.

Beware, I took my Movado watch into Jareds to get the clasp fixed and two links added to the band. They charged $25.00 to ship it to, they said Movado, I think it went to the service center for Movado, MGI in N.J. When Jared finally called with the estimate, it was a total of $113.00 which included the $25.00 shipping charge. When I asked for a breakdown, it came to $45.65 for the repair and links. When I said that did not add up, I knew she made a mistake telling me the actual cost and had to tell me they also add to the cost of the repair and links, almost double. They do/add nothing to the repair. I understand making a living but a lot of money was added to the cost when they should be glad you are coming into their store. I should have gone to Kay's or Helzberg or sent it to MGI (Movado service center) myself. MGI doesn't charge for shipping it back to you. I would have saved $35.00.

HORRIBLE! Worst experience ever. They sold us a ring and Extended Service Plan -- and when we took the ring in to be refinished, they RUINED the ring and told us we had to pick out a different one because oops they don't know how to refinish that ring and oops etched the wrong pattern onto it. WTF? They sold us a ring and service plan for a ring they can't service?? And only tell us this after they've f*('ed up the ring?? I want my $$ back and they won't do a refund. TERRIBLE customer service. I'm furious (and very sad) that Jared destroyed the wedding ring we had on our wedding day (which was only a month ago). My husband's band is ruined, and my ring is all whack (the diamonds are at randomly spaced intervals and they can't/won't fix it. Even though I have the Extended Service Plan). This is ridiculous. We're 0/2 and got screwed out of a bunch of money. GET OUT and DO NOT SHOP HERE. Jared's Tysons Corners, Virginia.

My husband bought me a bracelet for our 25th wedding anniversary. I was in the store when the manager suggested I get my 3 stone ring cleaned for free. What a nightmare! She came back suggesting I should have the prongs tightened and I paid them $51.99 to do it. Two weeks later, two of the diamonds had fallen off and this had not happened in the 6 years I had this ring. They took two weeks to replace the stones and when I got the ring back, the prongs were not securely set, the diamonds were not the same size or quality and they wanted to charge me $148 for the new repair. When I took the ring to where I had purchased it, Zales, I had to leave it behind and pay another $200 to have the setting completely redone to get the ring back to what it looked like, and I'm ending up with lower quality diamonds. This ring was given to me on my birthday, by my husband, after I buried my father and my mother spent 10 days in a hospital following his death. It was a way of letting me know he was there for me through my past, present and future. The ring meant a lot. I was appalled at the lack of workmanship and professionalism on the part of the Paramus store, especially Janet, the manager.

My fiancee got me a ring from Jared in San Diego, CA that needed to be sized down. They did a great job on the sizing and the ring is perfect. The customer service they provided was excellent and we would definitely come here again for our jewelry needs.

Jared has got to be the worst experience in my life!!!!! My boyfriend and I went into the Sugar Land, Texas store and at first everything was good. I found an engagement ring and a diamond that I loved; so we decided to look for a wedding band for him that would compliment my band. So we open up a layaway account made prompt payments every month. Well when I go in October of 2008 to make a payment they tell me my account was closed due to non payment activity. Anyways we're there a long time trying to correct the problem and guess what it was??? It was a glitch in their system that didn't recognize our September payment. Anyways it gets worse!!! The diamond that I had chosen for my engagement ring was put back into inventory and guess what??? Yes it was sold to someone else! Anyways they promise us that they will find a comparable if not better diamond. I should have just cancelled everything right there and then but I didn't and I will forever kick myself because of that. So anyways in May of 2009 we finally have saved up to pay off everything engagement ring, my wedding band and his wedding band along with warranties mounting fees and such. So my boyfriend goes in by himself to pay off the rings and he tells the lady that was helping him that he will pick up everything when my ring is ready so they give him this ugly Jared overnight bag as a thank you gift from him so he leaves the store with the bag. So my ring has been mounted so he goes into pick it up... so they give him my rings only and at the time he doesn’t realize that his band wasn’t given to him. Anyways he goes back to the store to let them know that his band wasn’t given to them. So you know what they tell him? That he took the ring the same day he paid off the account which is not true because the only thing he left with was the freebie bag they gave him. So they review tapes and say that he’s seen clear as day receiving his band and walking out with it. So I ask to view the tapes and I was told at first that it would be coordinated. The next day the asst mgr Randy calls me and said that they are not able to show me the tape because it’s against company policy. So at this point I do not know what to do but I will continue this battle because we paid $600 + tax and warranty for a ring that we haven’t received. I am really contemplating returning my rings if there is no solution to the problem. If anyone knows any number that I can call it will be deeply appreciated.

The store is a fraud. I received a $50 discount coupon with my credit bill for the purchase of a diamond ring for my fiance. She and I went to the store to get a necklace. WE spent an hour picking out the necklace. We informed the salesperson about the coupon upon arriving at the store. Upon checkout we where informed the discount did not apply to necklace we picked out. The store refused to honor the coupon. The store has lost my future business and I will never set foot in the store again with the exception of getting the diamond cleaned. The store has lost my business over $50 and I plan on giving the store a lot of bad business via word of mouth and the internet.

Do not shop here!!! I purchased a nice men's bracelet for over $150. Description: Stainless Steel & 14K Yellow Gold. The bracelet was well taken care of and only worn occasionally. On several of the links the gold plating started to peel up. I brought the bracelet back to the store, the store needed to send it to their home office. After 4 weeks they responded that they couldn't do anything and told me to pick the bracelet up. I called the customer affairs group to escalate further and they said they couldn't do anything as it's not under warranty. The store manager recommended I take it to a jewelry smith and MAYBE they could fix it! They wouldn't extend a store credit or any type of replacement to me. The bracelet is clearly faulty yet they still sell it on their website. I'm sure I am not the first customer to complain about this bracelet. The reason I purchased from Jared was I thought they had a good reputation. Not only is their product defect but their service is as well! I spent $150 on a bracelet that looks horrible now at a store that doesn't respect their products or their customers! This experience has been frustrating and disappointing. It's also embarrassing to give a gift to a loved one, that you think is good quality for a special occasion, to have it fall apart.

Amazing service. I went to their Amherst NY location for questions regarding service of existing jewelry I had (first up an attempt to order a star sapphire for a mens ring I had). I wasn't even dressed in the best clothes which usually doesn't garner you a look in this type of store (can I be blamed if I like to dress comfortable?). They treated me nicely. I ended up having my own star sapphire custom set in the ring. They did a nice job of it considering the setting wasn't really designed for it. I returned for service of a few other pieces I had. I took a platinum ring there that Reeds refused to touch due to liability. I wasn't concerned about liability, I don't care if a similar ring normally costs $2000. I got the ring cheaply, and my wife had pushed the main stone in spreading the prongs. She just wanted it fixed, not a story about how Reeds wouldn't service it because of liability concerns because I didn't buy it there. I went to Jared and they never hesitated to work on it for me. It turned out fine. Every time I go there I am treated nicely. The staff knows me and remembers me by name upon stopping in, despite the fact I've never actually bought anything there other than have them repair or do custom work for me. If I go in and present unsual requests due to my vintage jewelry collection, such as removing a monogram from a gold bracelet, they always give me fantastic service despite how strange what I'm requesting is. I know that if I were to go there tomorrow and want to look at something I'll be allowed to look at what I want to look at, treated nicely on a first name basis and not have to be pressured into buying anything if I'm just there to look for a potential purchase.

Honestly its one of the few jewelry stores I feel comfortable going to where I don't feel shunned. Other stores should take heed, just because someone strolls in wearing jeans and a flannel shirt doesn't mean they're less willing or able to buy than the guy wearing the suit. I'll admit I probably looked half like a bum when I've been there a few times, simply because I had no time nor reason to dress better. The staff never thought twice about it, I was treated fairly and professionally, and I can't stress how important that is. Make the customer feel like a person is how you win repeat customers.

I admit every time I expect to visit Jared again I look forward to it and expect it to be a pleasant experience. That is something they should, at least at this location, know they are doing correctly.

Good place to go for engagement settings and wedding bands, but their Diamonds are over priced (as most B&M jewelers are). You can buy much higher quality diamonds online for about 60% of the price.

Everyone that works there seems very friendly, but do not know that much about diamonds, even though they claim to. Typically, jewelers should know much more then just the infamous "4Cs", but they were not even familiar with what Ideal-scope/Aset-scope images are (images used by labs to detect how well the diamond will perform) nor did they know much about well-proportioned pavilion/crown angles on a diamond. With just a few hours of research anyone would be able to exceed the knowledge of most people working there.

Despite their limited knowledge of their over priced diamonds, they do seem to be quite nice and patient compared to other B&M jewelers, which is something that I value.

Boynton Beach Location- Terrible repair service. I called the Corporate Customer Service Hotline and they called the store to try and rectify the situation. Not only did they not fix the situation, but I was furious when I discovered that the manager there , Christina Major, lied to the Customer Service Rep in order to make her case. I couldnt believe it. DO NOT SHOP HERE! THEY ARE NOT TRUSTWORTHY!

As everyone else has been saying... If I could rate this place less than a 1 star, I would. I went to the South Portland, Maine store, and got totally CRAP service! Walked in, total snobs working there... Trying to pressure us into signing up for a finance deal when we were clearly not interested in the prices they were showing us. Tried to get them to understand that a smaller diamond was fine with me, kept showing .70 carats and up. Really snobby... Dissapointed that they don't sell colored diamonds.. Continually fed me some BS about how their diamonds are "perfect". Made me sick!

Asked for a business card just to shut them up and have them let us go.. They again tried to pressure us into signing up for finance and layaway.. Very annoying. Sat in my car, ripped up the card they had given me, and was completely DONE with it! These people are SICK. Obviously working on commision.

if I could rate Jared zero stars I would. I brought in my Tag Heuer watch for a battery repair. Now, I was aware that the manufacturer requires the watch go back to Tag for repairs, however, Jared did not send it to Tag, they sent it to a random 3rd party. This random 3rd party wanted to charge $250 for a watch that was under warranty. When I refused, Jared then wanted to charge me another $25 to send it to Tag. My issue is not necessarily that Jared did not follow the manufacturer's procedures or even the $25. It was the rude manner in which I was treated. I cannot believe that in this economy a jewelry store would intentionally alienate a customer. I recommend everyone avoid Jared at all cost.

I applied for a Jared credit card 2 years ago, and because of my limited income was granted a $500 credit line. I made a purchase and made every payment on time. In fact, my payment record was so good that my credit limit was increased to $1,000. In the past 2 years I have made periodic purchases, and each time have had a perfect payment record. In June 2008, I was stricken with a spinal cord disease that required surgery, hospitalization, and continual physical therapy. Because of that, my medical bills have become astronomical. Even though, I made sure that my Jared card was paid on time.

After receiving my Feb. statement and seeing that my credit limit had again been increased, I had someone drive me 60 miles to the nearest Jared store to make a Valentine Day purchase. Instead, I was totally embarassed to be told, in front of my girl friend, that my card had been cancelled because of negative marks on my credit due to my extensive medical bills. If I have a credit card with you and I pay it as agreed for over 2 years, why are you checking my credit, and what difference does it make what other problems I have if you've never had to worry about your money?

I am now of the opinion that Jared cares absolutely nothing about customer support or is the least bit interested in keeping customers if they treat a (now former) customer the way they have treated me. Maybe I'm wrong, but with the economic troubles business in general is in, it would seem to me that a company would do everything they could to retain a customer that makes regular purchases and pays for them all on time. I guess Jareds is more interested in how I have conducted business with other people than how I conduct business with them. They don't seem to need me or my money anymore, which is fine because I certainly don't need them anymore and will relish relating my negative experience with them to everyone I can, whenever I can, for as long as I can.

This store is a disaster. My boyfriend bought me a beautiful journey necklace in April 2008. Within 3 months, it broke. It fell right off my neck for no apparent reason, luckily I was sitting down and caught the diamond. I took it to Jared and I asked for a new chain, since it was obviously broke, and they said all they can do was fix it (since my boyfriend DID buy the warranty on it, apparently all the "warranty" is is that theyll "fix" your necklace). So I settled and asked it be fixed.

When I picked up the necklace a few days later I could clearly see all they did was mold it together with a link. Not only did this make the necklace look ugly, it appeared way longer than before. (I don't know if they just gave me someone else's fixed necklace but that is my guess). I asked the lady at the counter if this link is going to make my necklace weaker, she replied "No! It will actually make it stronger!" WRONG. A few months later, it broke again, and where? Where the link was. At this point me and my boyfriend are livid and we go to the store and demand to speak to a manager, and they pull the old, oh, the manager is away for the week come back later...blah blah....So when I finally get to go back they put me in the corner to talk to the lady who "fixes" the jewlery and she basically told me:

-My boyfriend paid for the diamond and the warranty, not the chain.
-The chain is cheap (yes, her exact words!!).
-I'd be better off purchasing an upgraded chain.
-They'll keep "fixing" the chain until its not fixable anymore, and at that time I will be forced to buy a new chain.
-I am lucky that they do the repairs for free, because it cost them a whopping $29 to do it (HA! Try my boyfriend paid $100 for that warranty, and for what? nothing)

So basically, Jared cares ABSOLUTELY 0% about customer satisfaction. They aren't just cheap with their business but they just simply don't care at all about their customers. I never wore the necklace in the shower or to bed, only to special occasions, so I basically wore it about 10 times and out of that 10 times it broke twice. At the store and on the customer service line they were in no way shape or form attempting to help me out, I wasn't asking for a million dollar chain all I was asking was that they replace the cheap chain they had provided me with from the beginning but they couldn't have the decency to fathom that. What a horrible business, company, and team of employees in general! I will NEVER step foot back in there. I've been wearing jewelry from NY and Company, Kohls, and Target for LONGER and through the SHOWER and to BED, and NEVER broke a chain in my life. Jared basically gives you the cheapest chain possible, that way you are forced to buy an upgraded chain, how low!

I guess I will be taking this to the next step.

My issue is with my wife's wedding ring that was created in the custom jewelry department at the Wegmans Plaza store. Due to the number of issues with the ring, the number of times the store has tried to correct it, and the irreparable damage caused to the ring by Jared's service department, I am planning to return the ring to the store and demand a full refund of the purchase price of this ring. I will explain in detail the reasons behind this below:

Background:
I purchased a platinum custom ring on 7/18/2006, at a charge of $2,160. The Extended Service Plan was purchased for this ring at the same time for $149.99. The ring was using heirloom diamonds (ten round cut diamonds, approx. 1ctw), given to my wife by her grandmother. It was her family's wish to use those stones in her wedding band. The ring was to be ready for pick up just before my wedding date - I took delivery of the ring on 8/30/2006, and our wedding was the next day, 9/1/2006. I knew the ring wasn't quite right when I picked it up initially, but with the wedding the next day, there was no time for any repair of the custom ring. This led my wife and I to return to the store on 9/2/2006 to speak with the custom ring shop to fix some initial issues we had with the ring. These initial issues included:

- The ring was not symmetrical. The ring was not circular inside or out, and looked off balance, with one side of the ring thicker and wider than the other. To be plain, the ring was not round. This issue can still be seen on the ring as it is today.

- The ten diamonds were not placed in any real order, and the amount of metal around the stones was not even, giving the ring a 'thrown together' look. This also caused future problems.

First Repair: September 2006
To resolve the issues, the only thing the shop would do was machine out the inside of the ring to make it rounder. I asked that the ring be remade due to how assymetrical it looked, but the store refused. They machined the inside of the ring and also cleaned up some of the metal around the stones, but the ring still looked off. We took delivery of the ring back on 9/7/2006. We really weren't that happy with the ring, but the store said they couldn't do anything more to fix it.

Second Repair: January 2008
A little more than a year later, one of the stones fell out. When we took it back to the store in early January 2008, we found out that all the stones but one were very loose. When we spoke to the store manager regarding the construction of the ring, he immediately put us on the defensive and insisted it was our fault, as I had a ring designed that wasn't very secure. To be clear, I had never seen a wax mold of the ring when it was constructed, and was never offered the opportunity to. The design of the ring was suggested by the staff at the store when I purchased it in July of 2006. Now, they say, this ring should never have been made with such a design using heirloom diamonds, contradicting their own in-house designer. Regardless, the store needed to correct the situation.

I again requested that the ring be remade - melted down and recast, but they refused a second time. They took the ring, reset all of the stones, and added a bit of metal in between each stone for additional security.

Keep in mind this is the same store that created the ring in the first place. We picked up the ring around January 17, 2008, and were happier with the way the ring looked, although still not perfect.

Problem Today:
Sometime within the last two months, my wife noticed something odd with herplatinum custom wedding band, repaired twice by the Wegmans Plaza store. The additional metal that was added in between the diamonds on the band was beginning to tarnish. After looking at it more and more over the next few weeks, we have come to realize the extra metal that was added to our platinum band was in fact white gold. Not only is the ring now contaminated, which ruins the integrity of the platinum band, to add insult to injury, another stone fell out.

This is completely unacceptable. After some investigation, we found out there are no seats in the prongs for the stones, nothing is symmetrical, and now of the remaining 9 stones, 4-5 are loose, 2 are very loose, and the last two seem to be still OK. The Wegmans Plaza store is the only place the ring has ever been serviced. After the store has had the chance to fix the ring twice, they only succeeded in contaminating the ring as well as losing two of my wife's grandmother's diamonds, which cannot be replaced.

This ring is beyond repair at this point, and I am requesting that I return the ring, have the store return my remaining diamonds, and refund the full purchase price of the ring ($2,160) as well as the Extended Service Plan sold with the ring ($150). As a repeat customer, and due to the nature of the issues, I expect that my refund be granted.

We called Jared Customer Service on Monday Feb 2, 2009 to raise our issues with a service reprensentative. We spoke with a Joe at extension 6379. After explaining the situation and the irreparable damage done to the ring caused by your store, he blatantly refused the possibility of any refund, and refused to let us speak to a manager. This obviously is not acceptable and need to escalate the matter further.

I'm sad to say that my wife and I filed for chap 7 BK 1.5 years ago, the BK was discharged in Feb 08' (Jared is listed in the BK). As of Feb 3, 2009 I am still receiving calls from their collection dept. stating that I must repay the $1,089 they say I owe them. The goon on the other end is claiming that due to new federal laws co's that sell diamonds are exempt from bk's (lol). I asked the goon to please take down my attorneys # and explain that to him. The goon says ok, takes the #, never calls my atty but instead calls me back the next day just to start the whole conversation over again. When they call it's always from a private # so it is difficult to document.

To make things even worse we have purchased approx 20K from Jareds over the past 4 years and repaid all but $575. Jareds is now stating that if we don't repay the $1,089 they say I owe them we need to return ALL of the jewelry we have purchased from them over the past 4 years(lol). Just to get the goons to leave me alone we have offered to return a 2k tennis bracelet but Jared refused.

Filing for BK was a very tough thing to do for my wife and I and I feel bad that we were unable to meet our obligations with Jared. BUT, that doesnt mean I have to let them walk all over me.

Buyer beware

I took my Fossil Watch in for a Battery change to the Boynton Beach Location.
They told me they can change it for me .It cost me $15 .The next day I went out of town and after taking a shower it was full of water.Keep in mind I had this watch for over a year and take showers and even swim with it on since it is waterproof. So I took it to a local Fossil dealer and they told me that the back of it was not screwed on right and was very loose they also informed me that it requires a seal after a new battery is put in which Jared
did not tell me.So I left my watch for Fossil to repair it .When I contacted Jared, the Manager was very arrogant and so is the staff in prior visits to Jared. He basically told me that the seal could of been damaged before I brought it in for a battery replacement.
I felt like he was calling me a liar.Customerservice stinks and they think they are better then everybody else .If they can t even fix a cheap Fossil watch I would never dream of letting them touch my Movado or a Rolex for that fact.

We had a wonderful experience at the Robinson, PA location. The staff was so nice, not pushy at all. They ordered a yellow sapphire center stone in for us, it took 8 business days, and when it came in they no longer had the wedding set I had wanted, so they ordered that too and when it all came in, within a few days, they let us see it all together before we purchased the rings in case we did not like the combo. They only extra fee was the $60 to set the stone. I wish they had told us about it in the beginning but I had read horror stories about this "head" costing over $300 and that was not the case at all!! Total spent on stone, diamond wedding set and men’s gold ring was around $2,300. My appraised value of my wedding set with center stone from independent appraiser by appointment at Bailey, Banks and Biddle was $4,600!!!! Almost twice what we paid for his and my rings!!

My boyfriend bought me a pink sapphire ring from Jareds, in Chattanooga Tn, about three years ago. Since then i have had 3 replacement rings. The middle sapphire will not stay in the brackets. I also have diamonds fall out ALL the time. At one point in time i had the option of swapping for another ring and i did. It also had the same problems. There customer service is good. According to one salesman "it has to be" (that tells me everything i need to know). Overall i am very dissatisfied and will NEVER buy another ring from there. I also agree with jtothep...run away as fast as you can!

I have been shopping at Jared's for about 12 years. In August 2006, we decided to upgrade the diamond in a wedding set from a 1 carat to a 1 1/2 carat. At the time, everyone was oohing and aahing over the stone selection. The scheduled inspections were for August and February and were religiously followed. In December, 2007, we took a promotional ring in for inspection. The store in Grand Rapids, MI decided that they would combine the inspection dates for both pieces. Thinking that the dates would now follow the $6,000 diamond, we took both rings in for inspection in August 2008. We were told that the large diamond had a chip that might have been caused by an impact and the Jareds lifetime warranty was void because the ring was supposed to be inspected in June. They also found a missing baget on the cheap ring and decided that it would be covered under the warranty even though it also was supposedly out of warranty. A letter to Jared's customer service wasn't even acknowledged for five weeks and when customer service finally called, they first offered to replace the diamond but it would cost me more than 50%. This was unacceptable. They also mentioned that my diamond was "an entry level stone", obviously negating the quality. Additional go-arounds and their experts re-confirmed that it had been chipped by impact. They now, however, upped the ante to a flat 50% replacement or if I wanted to purchase an $11,600 stone, they would give me full credit. Full credit for what they now consider a damaged entry level diamond. I took the ring to another jeweler recommended by Jeweler's Mutual for an evaluation and this man who has been in the diamond business for 30 years says that there is no new chip. What they are referring to was there and polished over when the stone was cut. If that is the case, they either hid this fact when the first inspection was done or they simply used this as a tactic to void their warranty. I am debating my next course of action.

I know there are a lot of bad reviews for Jared, but my husband and I have had good service there at the retail store in Franklin TN. We bought my engagement and wedding ring there with no problems. Five years later we decided to upgrade my diamond for a larger one, again, no problem, everyone was very nice and accomodating and the ring is beautiful! I do feel having to pay $95 per piece to have an independent appraiser do an appraisal is a bit much if you've purchased your jewelry there, but other than that, I would go to Jared's again.

I went there to have our wedding bands custom made and another ring custum made. They charged us an arm and a leg to do the work. Then they gave us a date they would be finished and that date came and went. So I called and they gave me a new finish date. Still no phone call saying they were done. So I called and they said the jewelar went on vacation and he did not finish them before he left. When we finally did get the rings back the work/craftmenship was horible and we had to take the rings back to be fixed. Again they did not make there due date this time either. When we did get them back there was a scatch on the tanzanite ring and my soon to be wife alomst started crying. So we had to take them back again. Then we had them appraised and the appraiser noticed cracks in both of the shanks so we took them back again. It was so bad everyone in the store new me by name and my address from filling out work orders. Then my fiance took my wedding present (movado watch) to have the back engraved to a different Jareds and they messed that up as well. I have not yet seen it but she says the ingraving is crooked and the spacing of the words and lines is horrible.  We will NEVER go back to JAREDS and I tell everyone how unhappy we are with them.

Jared in Fairborn, ohio.
We took a watch in for servicing over a month ago. They said they would call within a week to tell give us a quote. Never got a call so we went in. They said they didn't call because of the storm that come through two days prior knocking out power. We got this excuse from 3 other sales associates. But we brought the watch in a month prior. The receipt for the quote was three weeks old. Anyway, we didn't like the quote so we said have the watch sent back and we'll go somewhere else. Again, they said they would call when it came in from Michigan. Still no call over a week later. They don't keep their word. We are not impressed with this retailer. We will never use a Jared retailer ever again.

I am ready to sue! They must get commissions from the appraisals they try to make you sign up for with their "independent appraiser". I asked twice about what I needed to do for insurance purposes after my fiance purchased my ring. Both times they told me about their "independent appraiser" who you have to pay the 125 PER PIECE and "who did you sign up under...?". I finally call back because after shopping around with other jewelers I had been told that where my ring was bought should offer an insurance appraisal for free. After calling Jared and talking to two people about why they don't offer this to their customers, they tell me "well, we do acutally have something you can take to your insurance compnay that doesn't cost anything!" I almost paid over 200 dollars, after my fiance just purchased my wedding and engagement rings and they wouldn't even tell me that was an option! The customer service number was no help, they just dismissed it and said it was probably a misunderstanding...and they would talk to the store...yeah right! My fiance also purchased this extended warranty policy, from what I read it doesn't sound like it's worth much of anything! We need to sue them, they think they can get away with this!!!

I've had a 2.5 carat heirloom diamond for years now, never left it anywhere but my personal jewelers. However, last Christmas I went into Jareds to buy some diamonds and when they asked if I'd like my ring cleaned, I, of course said yes. Imagine my surprise in August when I ran to Jareds to have this diamond cleaned and engraved for my son's fiance, when they informed me it was a fake! Please keep in mind the diamond is not only appraised, but charted and very valuable! Jared's NEVER takes a stone in to clean without checking that it's real first. So, it was a real diamond at Christmas and a fake in August. Didn't take long to figure out that they had switched my stone for a poor quality CZ when they cleaned it! When I called corporate, convieniently, they don't record jewelry they take back for cleaning, in other words, they blew me off! I have contacted our BBB and the Attorney General, who, guess what? Have a list a mile long on Jared's. And have rated them the worst possible rating. I am just sickened by all of this. Any similar experiences? I am positive my diamond is not the only one switched.

My husband and I went to the Tigard OR store at Bridgeport Plaza to find a replacement for my wedding ring as I wanting to upgrade. I felt that the sales person was very pushy and kept trying to sell us a ring. I told him I wanted a sapphire ring and wanted a chance to look around. Within 30 seconds of telling him this, he started to show me rings and did not give me a chance to browse around the store. In addition, I felt like he was breathing down my neck. At last, we found a ring that we like and proceed to complete the paperwork. The sales people proceed to tell me that white gold will turn yellow??? and to bring it in for regular cleanings every 6 months and that should a diamond fall out that we needed to purchase insurance. Who has ever heard of white gold turning yellow? Or having your gemstones fall out of the ring. . . Is this some kind of joke. Safe to say we left the store ASAP. ***Then it brings to mind my sister's story. She had a ring that the diamond was loss and her husband brought it into Jared's for repair. Guess what they did. . . they ruin the ring and tried to repair it but could not. It never looked the same every again. :( DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE.

Horrible Experience in Glen Allen, VA!!
On the morning of August 22, my tenth wedding anniversary, my husband told me that he was taking me shopping. Imagine my surprise when he pulled up to Jared. However, the excitement ended there. The sales staff refused to acknowledge my husband and me. We waited patiently, and looked on in disbelief as every single customer who entered the store after us was greeted and waited on in a timely manner; of course, they were all white. After waiting in vain for twenty minutes, we realized that no one there wanted to waste their time with us, so we left. In the end, I did get a beautiful gift from another jeweler, but that experience really cast a negative mood over what should have been a beautiful day for us both. It never feels good to be discriminated against. It's my mission to tell everyone I know (black or white) about the terrible treatment we received in Jared. I'll NEVER go back there.

GREAT EXPERIENCE IN SKOKIE, IL
When I started thinking about an anniversary ring, I thought I'd look in stores for ideas and use those as a launchpad for designing my own. I never expected to fall in love with an existing ring in a chain store, but the Leo anniversary ring at the Jared in Skokie, IL just floored me. It's been a year now, and I still love it.

The salesperson I dealt with was initially a bit too pushy, but only by a hair. She quickly got the hint to dial it down a bit. No harm, no foul.

Customer service has been excellent. I bought the extra policy with no regrets -- while I don't wear the ring when I'm doing "heavy" work, I do wear it most every day. When I brought it in for a semi-annual inspection/cleaning, the jeweler told me that the little diamond on the inside "Leo" logo had fallen out (again, since I rarely take it off I hadn't noticed), and that they would replace it with another tiny Leo at no cost. Which they did.

Brought it in again today for its six-month "check-up." Salespeople were gracious and pleasant.

I JUST SENT THIS EMAIL TO JAREDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2206 W BRANDON BLVD
BRANDON, FL

I just wanted to let you know how unhappy I am being a costumer at Jared. my fiance bought my ring last September, he bought all insurance they told him he needed, then when my first little diamond fell out of the side they fixed it no problem at all, then again a diamond on the side of my ring fell out and everything went crazy they told me He had never purchased any sort of insurance and if I wanted it fixed I had to pay the full amount,I then left so upset with a missing diamond on my ring and embarrassed how this conflict became a store wide thing where he said she said . I then went home looking though all the files and found a insurance receipt with the date and time printed on back. So I brought that there to show them I wasn't crazy. and they told me I was not supposed to have that and it was a mess up and then ripped it up. I had so many problem with Jared. I really thought this was going to be the easy and best part of planning a wedding but it has become the most stressful part.I never wear my ring to work or bed and iam very careful with it.still I loose so Many diamonds. I am constaly in there to fix my ring. I always feel like Iam bothering everyone when I walk in and thay have better things to do. my fiance hates walking in there. before all this i put a ring on layaway there. and now we don't know if we still want to buy from Jared's.

BAIT AND SWITCH! We purchased 2 wedding bands from Jared in Maplewood Minnesota. We didn't put a down payment on the rings we paid for the rings. Almost a week after we paid for the rings our salesperson called to tell us one of the rings has been discontinued but they have the "new" version of it available for order but it is $300 more. We told them no and to cancel the entire order. When I went in to get the money refunded they still had the ring they sold me on display. BAIT AND SWITCH! BAIT AND SWITCH! BAIT AND SWITCH! I have never had a problem with Jared and am surprised to hear all the negative feed back, I find them to be much better in services and service than any other large jewelry chain. I have been to at least 4 different locations in the Chicago area and have always had the same great experience each time. The real benefit is to have the jeweler on sight willing to take care of my concerns and with a 6 month warranty to back up their work! No one else offers that. So I'm surprised about all the negative feed back that they are receiving on this web site, I find them to bu ethical and honest in their business practices, and will continue to recommend them to my friends and family members.

Well, basically, STAY AWAY!!!! Today, me and my friend went to an amusement park, and, i know you're laughing, but, while we were there, my friend found a loose what seems to be diamond. When we went to the Jared to see if it was real, even though we had already done a few tests, such as the breath test/scratch test, he took a "diamond detector" and used it on our gem. He then took out several diamonds in a gold ring, and the detector rang that it was real. He "said" they were fake, and probably cubic zirconium. However, we had already ruled that out, plus glass and quartz, with the breath test. The only other thing we could think it could be was moissanite. However, with a little research, we figured out that the "detector" would show the same results on moissanite as a diamond. In other words, it would have rang to moissanite as if it were a diamond. So, the only logical explanation is that he was not certified (as shown on these boards) or was lying to us, without it being turned on when he tested. So, basically, LAWSUIT TIME!!!!!!!

I am really surprised by the negative comments about Jared. My husband purchased my engagement ring there and everyone was wonderful! We took the ring to get it appraised independently and it was appraised at $4500 more than he paid. I later made a purchase for my mother and then returned it two weeks later (decided to buy a watch rather than a necklace) with no problems whatsoever. We also purchased our wedding rings there and had a wonderful experience. I have had positive experiences in all of the St. Louis area Jared stores.

every time i step into jared, the galleria of jewelry, someone is trying to sell me something that i don't want or need. often times it is some poorly dressed woman who thinks that showing off her saggy chest will get her more sales. the lack of professionalism at the lakeline mall store in cedar park tx is astounding. the employees are always seeming to be on vacation. they talk to eachother as if they weren't on the job. there was one pair of employees that seemed to be too friendly with eachother. i have a feeling that employees aren't supposed to be in relationships with eachother, but these two were clearly involved. the public desplays of affection were embarassing and annoying. the man had the nerve to ask me if i needed help and then proceeded to go back to flirting with the woman. it was the worst experience i've ever had at jared. i went in to pay my bill for a crappy piece of jewelry that i was stuck with, and they tried to sell me more crap all the while having their hands all over eachother. not a good selling environment.

I was told that since the necklace was shortened to 17" from 18" that voids the deal as it is now classified as "a custom order" At no time was i told this and also wanted to buy a separate chain. I was talked out of this and they offered to shorten for free!!!!I have contacted my attorney and will also contact the media, atty general, bbb and anyone else that will listen. the worst customer service that i have experienced.........

I bought my wife of 31 years an $18,000.00 ring at the Jareds in Gilbert, AZ. Beautiful ring. About a year later my wife noticed a chip out of the ring.(she wore it every day and just felt it one day) So thinking we could just use our warrenty we purchased with the ring, we took it in. Weeks later and lots of double talk we are told it is a "natural inclusion". This is the term they use when ever they are faced with a diamond gone bad. Be careful with these people. They do not honor their warrenty. My wife is understandibly very upset by this and refuses to wear the ring in its' current condition. You're better off ordering on line at a discount house with no warrenty. I will never go back to Jareds.

I bought my daughter an ankle bracelet and a pair of earrings at the New Orleans store for a total of $500. Within weeks, the ankle bracelet fell apart and they claimed that since we didn't buy an "extended warranty" (on jewelry? come on!) they were not responsible. After paying to fix it twice, the ankle bracelet fell into pieces and they did nothing. The earrings, which she has worn a total of 10 times, lost diamonds the first time she wore them; they wanted to charge her to fix them. The diamonds fell out again, and after constant arguments with the rude and obnoxious salespeople and supposed "manager" who sounds like a flunky, they fixed it as if they were doing us a favor. The earrings were fixed four times in a year and finally fell apart. They are totally rude, could care less, and refuse to give us a credit -- only say (again after hours of arguments with a bunch of morons) that "jewelry is delicate and we should have bought the warranty." Yes, jewelry that is made like garbage certainly is delicate. I am pursuing this with customer service and consumer affairs and will go as high as I have to. They shouldn't be in business with their seedy merchandise and worse customer service.

Pros: None

Cons: Cheaply made overpriced merchandise; rude salespeople; non-existent customer service
