 | DanForbes (0) 08/10/2008 | If you care about getting good value for your money or getting the services that you paid for, I would not use Five Star Moving and Storage. I was told that my shipment would be handled door to door by Five Star - no one else...this was not the case. The company that dropped off my shipment was rude and said that if I didn't pay a $300 shuttle fee they would put my shipment in storage, which would have cost more than $1000 dollars. Even after getting confirmation from the management at my apartment complex that there was no need for a shuttle service, Five Star refused to refund the $300. They also never called when they said would and never returned phone calls. Five Star Moving and Storage is horrible.

 | boohaha (0) 03/14/2008 | Lousy. Rude owner. Showed up late. Pushed me for a tip afterward though nothing special was done, no setup of anything required. Lied about incidental costs and "what a deal" I was getting. Messed up payment. Owner had bad attitude. Don't use 5 Star. You are NOT getting a "deal" as they will screw you on "packing" materials and fudge the amounts used. Obviously an employee wrote the positive reviews - seems to sound just like ones I saw on another web site touting how "great" they are.

 | watsons2144 (0) 11/30/2007 | Queen for a day! Since I've moved 4 times in the last 6 years(renting apartments and moving after college), I finally decided I wasn't going to lift a finger this time around! I spoke to no less than 10 different companies and some brokers who tried their hardest to gain my business, and after looking into the Better Business Bureau, the US DOT, and the Illinois Commerce Commission, Five Star was an easy decision. This was for a local move, and although they were a bit more than the competition, I figured it's like everything else: You pay more for quality. The customer service was impeccable, Danil knew what she was talking about, sounded so educated-not just in her grammar, but in her knowledge of the industry, and I trusted her immediately. What took me soooo off guard and really impressed me was when she said most of the mokvers have been working there between 4-7 years! NO ONE ELSE EVEN MENTIONS HOW GREAT THEIR MOVERS WORK OR WHAT TO EXPECT! She walked me through from arrival to the time I pay the balance in such detail I couldn't help but appreciate her service. I reserved with her and she even emailed me a confirmation email within moments as well as the original estimate "for my records"---I must be honest--I thought there was no way these movers would impress me as much as she did. I was wrong. These guys came in and immediately began working diligently and carefully loading the truck. I have a big screen tv and a piano--obviously I was a bit worried: IT WAS NO PROBLEM FOR THEM-they were professional & in a good mood the whole time. The entire move went out without a hitch. Kudos! I've already referred my college buddies!

 | CHEESED OFF (0) 09/05/2007 | Five Star Moving and Storage-What a scam! First they have the "snake oil salesman"-err customer service rep discuss the move and generate a quote with out even mentioning the incidentals such as charging for the moving blankets and flights of stairs. The customer service supervisor lied and said he was the owner when I called asking why the truck was nearly five hours late.My job was a two location pick up and the driver of the truck had the audacity to ask directions on how to get to my house! When I asked the supervisor why I had to give the driver directions to my house he told me "oh you can't just go on google and get them?" He was extremley rude and barely spoke english, even though I was one day away from my move I decided to cancel their service I could not take a chance on their unprofessional attitude. When I cancelled the service and requested a refund of my deposit the supervisor accused me of "playing games". FIVE STAR MOVING IS BAD NEWS STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

 | bhfagh (0) 07/20/2005 | First, they showed up late! Then, they took there sweet time loading up their truck and taking cigarette breaks. They even stopped several times to make up some drama over a garden snake that had wandered into my garage. After finally getting to the new place, they charged me for an extra hour that hadn't even happened. Meanwhile they unloaded and threw my things into my home as fast as they could- not concerned that they broke several of my items. I even caught one of the guys stealing from me!!!! After they left I realized that my brand new washer had a part broken off the back that ended up costing my $200! The adjuster came to look for five minutes and now when I call their number has been disconnected!! STAY AWAY!!!!!

 | dmajkc (0) 07/21/2004 | I had booked with this company in June. Had my confirmation date of the move and corresponded with them weekly. I had my confirmation number and was paying credit card. The were supposed to call the day before the move. No call. I called them and they had no record of my move. No apologies nothing. Thankfully my credit card wasnt charged. However, I had to scramble to find a reputable company to move my furniture. My advice is to stay away from this company. I learned and expensive mistake. Stay with a company that has a local office.
