 | callitdowntheline75 (53) 10/12/2006 | Hmmm? I'm very ambivalent about some foods, but especially this one (baalut). Strangely, there are quirky songs and nursery rhymes in the Philippines exclusively devoted to this (considered) delicacy. Other Filipinos tell me not to judge it until I try it. A professor of mine swears by it (and teases me for not being adventurous enough so as to try it). My own parents sometimes have a hankering for baalut. But for me? I'll just have to take a pass on this one.

 | souljunkie (20) 08/30/2005 | Very familiar with it from my Navy days and so many visits to the Phillipines. Saw it and even saw locals eating it! I take pride in being the type who loves to try odd and exotic foods but I could not get myself to try this stuff. I figure anything thats been buried for a while should stay under ground!!

 | kamylienne (77) 08/28/2005 | I've seen a lot of non-appetizing things in my life. I think I just might faint if I saw this one, though.

 | Aphrodite_pink (0) 08/28/2005 | Trying to be rational about this ... but it just grosses me out way to much. I get freaked out when I have normal eggs and find red bits in them, so god knows what I would be like with this. This is just a no no for me, but I would of course eat it if I were starving. I mean, its not poisonous or anything.

 | Mr.Political (18) 08/28/2005 | The notion that I would have to first be at the brink of death and starving in order for me to eat something like this doesn't sit well with me at all...

 | Djahuti (54) 08/21/2005 | Although this sounds pretty gross,my rational side asks why it's so much less repulsive to eat Duckling or adult ducks.I guess food is pretty psychological, and cultural. Many folks who will gladly eat a pork chop are turned off by a roasted whole pig.I don't think I'd really want to try baalut, but I'd sure eat it rather than starve.

 | sir_ken_g (0) 08/19/2005 | I lived in the Phillipines for 2 years. Baalut was an afternoon snack ritual at our school. One you gost past the idea of the little ducky - and the fact that it tasted fishy because of what the duck ate it was ok. People eat grown up duck , chicken, turkey everyday so what's wrong with babies.

 | BugahaNE (19) 08/18/2005 | Oh dear Lord, when I saw Baalut, I had no idea what this was. After reading the comments I think I know all I need to.

 | helmut (16) 08/18/2005 | Yesterday, I was thinking Why doesn't somebody just put 'poop' on here and then maybe we would have a clear winner. I guess we didn't have to go that far. (shudders)

 | CherrySoda99 (29) 08/17/2005 | Saw it being eaten on Survivor. I almsot had to change the channel. I mean, who wants to go up to someone, and say Excuse me, but what am I eating? Oh, it's just a half, developed fetus! Oh, yummy, thanks!

This could knock a starving dog off a gutwagon.
Seen them eaten, and that was way more than enough for me.

 | CastleBee (81) 08/17/2005 | Oh, good lord, how disgusting is THIS?! Are you sure this isn't part of a dream following a midnight anchovy and onion pizza fest?

 | texasyankee (21) 08/17/2005 | This is something I could not eat, no way. Just the thought of opening an egg and having a fetus inside would be enought to give me nightmares for a long time.
EDIT actually the guy who owns the sushi restaurant I go to, has these on display for an appetizer lol

 | Sundiszno (30) 08/17/2005 | I think that this one has got to top the list of disgusting foods (thanks to texasyankee who suggested it). I guess you wonder which comes first, the chicken or the egg, as you try to eat this whatever it is.
