This site served as home to the wealthy Greek Benaki family until 1931, when the family converted the house into a museum and awarded it to Greece. After an expansion that doubled its space, the museum now exhibits acclaimed pieces from all over Europe and Asia, ranging from the Neolithic era to the 1900s.
