Actually, Samuel's dad was the brewer, and when Samuel got involved in the family business, he made rather a hash of it. Turned out that he wasn't much good at the brewing end of the business, or the business end of it either. This led him to a career as a tax collector, during which time he developed strong relationships with the merchants of Boston and launched his eventual career as a politician. He was the first to propose a Continental Congress and quickly became a passionate advocate for independence. All in all a great patriot, and while I believe the beer is named after him, he didn't actually brew it.

I'm sure he was great with the Declaraton of Inddependence, but his primary legacy is the beer. What's not to like about a brewer / patriot?

Feisty, combative, argumentative. Wore the title revolutionary well. He showed utter disgust for colonists who did not participate in the revolution. I can't quote him but something about the chains lay lightly upon your wrists and ankles and may history forget that ye were our countrymen. I believe he was the oldest of what we today call the Founding Fathers.
