I'll give him a 3 for effort but he was the slickest of slick politicos. It's from Elbridge Gerry that we get the term gerrymandering. He created a voting district that started on the coast in Newburyport and snaked its way up through Essex County, down again through Middlesex County and curved once again out toward Worcester County. Ended up looking like a thin snake that went right across the eastern half of the state. An artificial voting district if there ever was one.
