Theocracy is basically a transitional form of government. It arises when a growing middle class confronts a decadant aristocracy, and takes power from them. Theocracies are often puritanical and militaristic, but they rarely last more than a generation. After a few decades or less, the people get fed up with regimentation and preaching. The revolutionary 'saints' give way to corrupt bureaucrats, ambitious generals and (eventually) democratic politicians or reformed aristocrats. Theocracies are not necessarily religious in the traditional sense; ultra-nationalist or socialist regimes are often quite theocratic.

The present form of leadership in far too many places in the world. Not just dangerous, but they keep existing in part due to religious apoligists who refuse to see the inherit root of the problem. Some civilized societies recongnize the foolish beginings (sp?) and break free from this dangerous and primitive form of leadership- England comes to mind. The theocratic government wants your obedience, loyalty, and unquestioning belief at the expense of free inquiry, science, and anything that challenges primitive dogma.

It is surprising how low this is and we always have a Christian president.

In history has there ever been a theocracy except that of the ancient Hebrews as found in the Bible? A theocracy means that the polity is ruled by divine guidance or by people who are divinely guided. The definition has been bastardized to mean, to the hoi polloi, that religion guides the state. Using that definition, theocracy has had its place in history and has often been a success. Many of the ancient states were that type of theocracy. Several of the New England settlements in the United States were theocracies. The English Commonwealth was a theocracy until it degenerated into a military dictatorship. Many small states have been successful theocracies.

Every government in the world is governed either by belief in or disbelief of the existance of a higher power.Anyone of a faith will make decisions will make their decisions based upon that, and the opposite is also equally true.Whether or not you like it, you live in a theocracy of sorts, where your "moral community" makes a large majority of the decisions. It seems that now there is such a push for being "politically correct" that there can never truely be a full fledged theocracy.
