I think it would be great to help them maintain their independence, but after centuries of having everything taken from them, I'm afraid that the situation would turn out much like it has in African colonies. This is the great shame of American history - the way native Americans have been treated in their own land.

This is towards the bottom of the heap. I am familiar with some of the Indian reservations, and this may only be a problem with some Indian radical politicians.
