If an animal is being killed only for the fur, then I can't buy that. If this is really your bag, use the imitation stuff. Works just as well, and without doubt less expensive.
LadyJesusFan77 7 04/06/2009
I don't believe in animals being killed for their fur, especially when there are so many other materials out there to work with. It's utterly senseless.Update: For all people who believe in fur production, may a skunk back up, lift its tail, and let it RIP! :D
irishgit 04/06/2009
I'm not going to make a case for the benefits of fur-trapping or breeding mink or chincilla for fashion purposes.I do, however, get worn out by the anti-fur folks who think they're making the world better by screaming at women wearing fur coats or throwing paint on them. If they are so courageous in the statement of their principle that animals should not be used for clothing, why don't they exhibit the same behaviour towards a leather clad outlaw biker? And I'd be all in favor of establishing a domestic cat-fur industry....
Astromike 03/30/2009
Fur as a fashion is pretty much a thing of the past, at least in western culture. I never understood the appeal of wearing a dead animals fur.
Max da ? KING 01/31/2009
fuck that
Kikopop 01/08/2009
wtf we're rating the animals, not their product.
StarkTruth 01/03/2009
Fine... if you want to get that particular about it... i'll shave my legs and donate the trimmings.

I don't care either way, sorry P.E.T.A.

IF YOU WANT 2 WEAR A FUR ITS OK!!
twansalem 12/30/2008
Well Ashlynne from myspace wrote a report about it in sixth grade, so that settles it, wearing fur must be bad. I guess all those guys I knew in high school who set traps every day to make a few bucks must have been evil people.
Get over yourself people, there's nothing wrong with wearing fur. It's too expensive, but that's a different issue.
Ashlynne 12/30/2008
HATE it! That's y im totally against it and did a report on it in the 6th grade!
Francisco9446 12/26/2008

Angie5963 12/09/2008
NO NO NO....the only reason people buy fur is for the sake of showing off that they have $. There is no need for fur only if you are going to use fur from the animals who were slaughtered for their meat but harmless pitiful little innocent animals NO!!! Can you tell I am an animal lover?!?
Dale 8577 11/02/2008
This is HORRIBLE! I don't mind animals being used for food. The remainder of their bodies can then be used for whatever but simply killing a beautiful animal to make money or use it as a trophy - NOT!
doll parts 10/20/2008

Farming fur, in this day and age? Out of what...necessity? Greed? Status-seeking? No, couldn't be that. Must be necessity.

There is nothing natural about clothing made from animals skin or fur.
excelsior30 05/12/2008
Can they just cut off their fur instead of skinning? It makes more sense and it saves all lives. I would not want to see how they skin them- besides, who do you know eats lynx, tiger or fox meat? Such a waste of a body.
Molfan 04/18/2008
all in the name of vanity. beautiful animals lose their lives so barbaric humans can skin them and make coats, hats etc to wear. cruel and selfish. poor babies.
GenghisTheHun 12/27/2007
Oh come on now all you posters. It is just as moral to kill an animal for its fur as for its hide or meat or hooves or other offal. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? Really, now, what is the difference? And please don't tell me about need until all of you refuse to buy any more shoes until the ones you now own fall to pieces! No buying new shoes until you absolutely NEED them. I also hope that none of you who are against fur is overweight from chomping that extra steak or burger or pork chop or, well, you know.
X Factor Z 12/27/2007
Fake furs are an affordable alternative.
Xtreme2252 11/26/2007
terribly cruel and wasteful

Disgusting industry.

Quit crying over the use of fur.I dont own any but if I want it,get it.Why have people become so sissyfied. Why is it a crime to be human. If I think I look good in fur then round up a few minks and a rabbit or two.But it is o.k. if the rabbits chew up my garden because that is what they do.Well get off your high horse because we humans like the way the fuzzy critters feel against our skin because that is what humans do.
CanadaSucks 06/27/2006
I've never understood anti-Fur types. . .it doesn't do anything for me, but how can I be anti-fur after I walk around in leather shoes and enjoy a nice steak?
Kevin T 01/29/2006
For all those "fashionable" people out there that love to wear fur, go to China and look the animal in the eyes as it gets skinned alive by those stupid asian fur producers and tell me if you still love your fur coat as much after that.
NO2ANIMALTESTI NG1000 09/10/2005
It is terrible walking around wearing a dead animal on your shoulder, yeh along time ago it was tradition, but now it is just disgusting, now is different because we have done research into animals and found they are intelligent where as then we didn't. To me wearing fur is like wearing the skin of a person you murdered
Bird808 08/31/2005
I don't understand people who wear fur as a fashion statement, it truly is disgusting and makes my skin crawl. I mean is this elaborating your self-indulgent bling bling lifestyle? It looks cheap and when you consider other materials on the market is this really the choice to show how much money your earning?
CherrySoda99 08/28/2005
This is one of the things that I feel very strongly against. I don't believe animals should be killed for their fur. I think of it this way: What if humans started getting killed for their skin, or their hair? That's icky. I love animals, and to hear that tigers are becoming endangered, mostly because of hunting for their fur, that's terrible.
Djahuti 08/28/2005
I agree with Greymalkin.Fur farms are cruel and uncalled for when there are such fine artificial furs available. However,if the animals are hunted and free-running,and the meat is eaten, that's different. The American indians believed that if you killed something, you had to make use of EVERY part of it.I agree.I know several people who do this.Even the bones are used in jewelry or tools.
Mr.Political 08/28/2005
You know the common wisdom that you should never look in the kitchen of your favorite restaurant? Well, the same idea applies to fur production. If your looking for something gruesome (like the killing of an animal), you will ultimately find something gruesome. Truthfully, I'm not a big fan of fur but at the same time I am married to someone who had paint poured onto a coat passed down to her from her deceased grandmother and was called a fur hag.
Randyman 08/27/2005
Until yesterday, I don't think I ever looked at the downside to the skinning an animal. If an animal is going to be killed humanely for food, I don't really have a problem with using the hide or fur. But after what I saw on a website yesterday, I'm horrified that we as humans can be so cruel to animals. These animals were smashed against the ground to stun them, then they were beaten with sticks, severely, then their paws were cut of while these poor animals were writhing in agony, and finally they were skinned alive. By the time they were done with the skinning theanimals were dead. There were several closeups of the animals eyes and there was no mistaking the agony. I can't describe accurately enough how horrific these scenes were. The website is http://strasbourgcurieux.com/fourrure/ if you care to check it out. It's very graphic. It's hard to believe we could do this just for fashion's sake.
kamylienne 08/27/2005
Are you going to eat that mink? I see no reason to kill an animal JUST for skin. It's wasteful. If something's gotta die, it should be used as much as possible.
TJGypsy2 08/26/2005
A deplorable trend, only one slight step up from testing for cosmetics. I think the only people that should be allowed to wear real fur are those that went out and killed it for themselves, and then ate the meat. Everybody else should have to do with that all but indistuishable fakes that we can now make. Coonskin caps used to be cool because the coons had been killed by that person, and that I can understand. But foxfur? By someone living in New York????? No....that I'm against, completely.
Banshee 08/24/2005
Every time I see someone wearing fur, I want to vomit on them. How did this fashion trend get re-instated?
Graymalkin 08/24/2005
I had to give serious thought to this and came to the same conclusion; I just do not get it. According to the US Humane Society, over 40 million animals are killed each year just for their fur. These so-called fur farms are anything but humane; animals are kept in pitiful conditions, mainly wire cages where the average sized space is barely adequate for the number of animals contained in each pen. Their lack of space and absence of natural habitat cause sever distress in these animals causing them to suffer from self-mutilation and cannibalism as well as pacing back and forth endlessly in their cages. All for what, so that someone with enough cash to fork out can walk around wearing the latest styles in the name of fashion. A useless waste as far as I am concerned, especially since there are so many synthetic fur like materials readily available.
