Used to be quite run down, but now a neighborhood with a sizable gay population, yuppies, trendy artistic types, and students, in addition to the Blacks , Hispanics, and others living there. Some of the better hospitals are around here.

South End is the new neighborhood for wealthy Bostonians and aspiring artists. Very pricey! Very Hip! South End is home to the world famous New England Conservatory. Brownstones as far as the eye can see. Fabulous!

Hard to imagine this neighborhood was run down and on hard times less than 20 years ago. The South End has many beautiful brownstones with grand doorways and they've been restored very nicely. This area has become sooooo.... trendy with expensive bistros and day spas, I guess following the same path as Soho and Greenwich Village in New York.
