In addition to the old Irish/ Italian/Polish/ French-Canadian, etc enclaves there are yuppies, students, Blacks, Dominicans, Vietnamese, Haitian, and Eastern European, communities, among others, now in the various sections. I grew up in this area. Good access to public transportation, some businesses, a college or two, some hospitals, fair amount of crime, not the prettiest of neighborhoods- and the driving is frightening like most of this city is for drivers. Never boring though. For a comparable idea of what a lot of this place looks and seemslike, imagine if an area about 1/10 the physical size of, with about 1/20th the population of Queens, N.Y. was somehow traded to Boston for a neighborhood to be named later.
