Made a stupid, fossilized old man quite charming and funny- a great TV show that is still quite memorable. . .

Funny, contemporary, O'Connor's portrayal of Archie Bunker will be remembered for years to come

Another highly respected show that I could never get in to, "All In The Family" was admittedly groundbreaking for its day. Most likely the social issues tackled by the series (e.g. "racism" and "rape") were too serious for my younger age, but Jean Stapleton's voice irritated me, Sally Struthers was just too whiney, and the colors on the film stock always looked washed out to me. Ultimately, it was Carroll O'Connor and Rob Reiner who made the show work, and the latter would go on to greater things. It is my understanding that "All In The Family" spawned more spin-offs than any other show in television history, including "Maude" and "The Jeffersons".

archie bunker was a one of a kind character and the show wouldn't have worked without edith. o'connor and stapleton played them to perfection and left lasting memories.

I'd have to agree with this choice being at or near the top.The cast was excellent,and the show was light years ahead of its contemporaries.Although some of it seems a bit dated today,it's still funny and poignant after all these years.

One of the greatest shows.

Really Bunker would have perfect as a date for Ann Coulter, although he is way much more intelligient than she is. The show was cutting edge and funny, brought TV into a new era.
