I'll admit, I had it out with PBeavr lots of times. But his leaving is not a good thing. He was definetly an articulate RateItAll User and he was intelligent. It's always good to have a challenging rival. And the loss of PBeavr is devastating in that aspect.

PBeavr may not be posting any more on RIA but you and I know he has not left the site. In fact I am sure he is reading this posting. In fact I am also sure he will send me a PM. It's a shame the way he left but it is not for me to second-guess his decision. Most people on RIA know that PBeavr did not care for me and it was obvious in his posts. I tried time after time to apologize to him for "whatever" I might have done to him but he would blow it off and say it was a sign of weakness; of course I disagreed and saw it to be just the opposite. I have had a few challenging opponents on RIA since I have been here with RalphtheWonderLlama, Skizero and the latest being PBeavr. They all have left and more will come because we all have beliefs and opinions. Sometimes people choose to dislike you for those beliefs and opinions. Such is life.

Ladies and gentlemen, you are witnessing the Götterdämmerung of this reviewer. He has eliminated all the comments on his lists and he is systematically eliminating his lists. I assume that he will then eliminate all his comments. He is living up to his namesake for assiduousness! Soon he will be history on this site, I assume! UPDATE: Please check the note from Lawrence on the Blog site. Lawrence is going to undo the Beav's handiwork and restore the comments. All the Beav's lists are moved over to an ophan list site!

My only connection to him really is my rating on him as a reviewer. Thought he was articulate and well informed. I illuded to the idea that he might have taken the site a little too seriously which he did not like, but I was just being honest. It is human nature to gravitate to certain personalities. Cliques will form inevitabley because of it. I have been on the site more than a year now. Ive seen personalities like Texas yankee for example thrive here. She is in the top 25 now after being on the site half the time I have and its obvious to see why. That does not phase me at all. I would expect a person who is very accessible with more diverse outlooks to become popular quicker than myslef. Am I worried or envious about it. No, why should I be. I am here to shoot my mouth off and see how its recieved. We all should be. If making a 'top whatever' list is important, thats ok but I think in the end if you compete on any level for it or measure yourself aginst others for whatever the reason, you will only be dissapointed. I wish him luck and I think he'll be fine with his decision. Like I said, he is a smart guy.

What a damn shame. I see the point PBeavr's made, but I can't see the rationale behind storming away in disgust. The way this site is set up strikes me as fairly ideal: if you can't find topics that interest you, make your own (and you can explain why the topics that don't interest you don't interest you). Nothing wrong with any of that. You can be as erudite, as base, as terse, or as rambling as you'd care to be. Perhaps the signal to noise ratio became insurmountable for PBeavr, or maybe (as I've noticed lately) you can only go so far with this type of forum before boredom sets in like arthritis dipped in concrete. Whatever the reason(s), I'll miss the candid commentary, as one got a sense as to the whereabouts of its origins.

In many ways I actually relate to PBeavr's concerns about RateItAll; in some way I think we all do. Many weblists tend to be repetitive and we all know that on most lists regarding fellow reviewers...we can be rather generous in the virtues we assign them. That's particularly so if the reviewer happens to be well liked, unless of course the consensus is that a reviewer is incompetent. It is in that respect that I understand where PBeavr is coming from when he compares RIA to highschool or the like. However, most of us come here because we like to be here and most enjoy the comfortable and familiar atmosphere that RateItAll provides. Nonetheless, PBeavr did invest quite a bit of time on RIA and his departure has not gone unnoticed.

Lets face it, no matter how ticked you get, it's pretty hard to storm off the Internet. But apparently PBeavr is giving it the old disgruntled poster try. Too bad he can't utilize some sound effects, film clips or animations on his user page for added drama. I guess he'll have to settle for deleting himself crazy (or crazily deleting himself) and rambling on and on about what a high school RIA is on his Blog. To be fair and not too much of a hypocritical bag, I can relate to a certain extent - I've been almost that peeved myself. Just not enough to get into total self annihilation. But, hey, whatever works for you. The sad thing is that there isnt one of us who, if we dropped out of site completely, would actually be missed in less than a couple of months time.

Man! This sucks on many levels. Society will now start to crumble here unless I become a bigger asshole.
