For those un-aware of the rich history surrounding Bridgetown it mayappear that there isn’t many things to do or see. But375-year town is an excellent heritage site, which features much of therich British culture handed down by the English who arrived in href="http://www.best-barbados-vacation-packages.com" target="_blank">Barbados over 400 years ago.For example Bridgetown is the home to the second oldest parliament inthe British Empire… this makes the parliament buildingstreasured landmarks worth visiting.Another area of interest should be the beautiful and impressiveCarlisle Bay located on the out skirts of Bridgetown. Not only is it aterrific area for href="http://www.best-barbados-vacation-packages.com/barbados-beach-attractions.html" target="_blank">water sport activities but alsoCarlisle Bay was once the scene of many maritime attacks during theearly colonial days. The number of cannon balls that litter the floor of this popular scubadiving area fascinates many scuba divers. Last but not least is theGarrison Historic Area, also located on the out skirts of this bustlingsmall city the area comprises the Barbados Museum and Historic Society,The National Cannon Collection and George Washington House allsignificant heritage sites. So along with spectacular white sand beaches, excellent shopping and anumber of href="http://www.best-barbados-vacation-packages.com/barbados-restaurants.html" target="_blank">great restaurants and beach barsBridgetown’s rich history makes it a significant heritagesite worth exploring by both locals and visitors alike.

Barbados is small beautiful island in the Caribbean with many nice beaches and a much low crime rate that many of the other islands. The capital of the island, Bridgetown, is very small but has many shops for locals and tourists selling many things from jewellery to unique handcrafts. However the price tags can be quite high on many of the items there. You may find better prices along the south coast at places such as Quayside Centre by Accra Beach. There are a few historic sites in Bridgetown to check out. These include a beautiful clock tower attached to the Barbados Parliament Building. I highly recommend taking from the Chamberlain Bridge along the boardwalk down to the Carlisle Wharf. Once there, if you are the adventurous type, you can take a tour at the Barbados Heliport and get a birdseye view of the island. There is also a small shopping village called Pelican Village along the outskirts of Bridgetown Barbados with lots of cool Barbados hand crafts and art. It is located right by the Cruise Terminal. It is definitely worth visiting.

There isn't much to do in Bridgetown, but the island itself is very pleasant. The best beaches are just north of Bridgetown, that's the place to stay. Try to do a circle island tour; there are a few nice areas throughout the island. The north-east shore is one of a my favorite spots on the island. The island is also dotted with lots of caves. They have one which is the largest in the Caribbean; an electric train takes visitors down to see it. The stalagmites there are quite a sight to see. Also, being that the island is owned by Britain, people drive on the left side on the road. Indeed, the culture itself seems to more defined by British influences than a lot of other islands in the Caribbean.
