Certainly a disappointment, but nowhere near the 'bust' status of a Ryan Leaf or Bozworth. . .I think calling Todd a bona-fide bust is a little on the harsh side. . .

Being that Todd was taken in front of Marino and never quite produced yes he was a sure fire flop. But taking into consideration some of the other players on this list he doesn't rise to their level of failure. He posted a couple semi-average seasons in the mid-80-s and even led the Cheifs to the playoffs in 86.

Perhaps, if anything, to be in a draft class with the likes of John Elway, Dan Marino, and Tony Eason is going to be something you can never live down. And even though Todd Blackledge had a fairly decent career, when compared to his draft contmporaries, he was never in their league. But he was a stellar college player, nevertheless.

He wasn't bad, but he wasn't Marino, Elway, or the other guys magellan lists. Points for bringing to light that a good program can make a player look better than he is.

If I remember correctly, Blackledge had a decent NFL career, mostly as a backup. But when you compare him to the other QB's taken in '83 - Marino, Elway, Jim Kelly, Boomer - he just didn't measure up. A note about Penn State draft busts... I think that when a school consistently produces draft busts, it's a CREDIT to the program. What it means is that they they are winning with mediocre talent, and have built a winning system that can overcome talent shortcomings.
