I have alot of trouble believing this guy was a GOP man, but then Arlen Spector and Olympia Snowe are. Nagin has done very little to change New Orleans from the filthy, corrupt and crime riddled place that it is/was. The number one person to blame for the poor Katrina response, Bush and the Feds come in a very distant 3rd behind the pathetic governor. This guy won re-election?

Is New Orleans and Lousiana becoming a fourth world nation? "http://louisiananeworleans.blogspot.com"

Nagin is just the fall guy. Make no mistake, he's no ubermayor, but even if he did everything right NOLA would not have been any better off. For those of you who think it was just 'a black thing' believe me the demographic would have been different if it had been in Utah. Don't count on the government for *hit except taking your money and spending it. The people of NOLA needed help the DECADE before Katrina hit. Now they're spread to the four corners of the earth so they can never get back and billionaire developers like Donald Trump can come in and gentrify the 9th ward into $500k condos and million dollar gated McMansions.

Every so many decades someone comes along that brings out the ignorance in everyone. If FEMA could have just got there in time to get those busses out of the drink.

Ah, yes, Ray "School Bus" Nagin. Although not quite as incompetent as the dangerous indecisive Governor Kathleen Blanco, Nagin truly dropped the ball as many ways as possible. Satellite photos not only prove that school buses were present after Katrina--but were not waterlogged as much as 24 hours after the most significant parts of the storm were gone. The roads between the buses and the Superdome were clear. And, his weak-kneed stance on villianous looting was a dangerous position to take.

In my home state of Arizona we have recalled politicians with better performance than his.

Nagin is NOT A DEMOCRAT, he was a republican who happened to turn democrat to run for Mayor, he's an absolute hypocrite and did a crappy job on Katrina.

Chickencow, he certainly has the correct track record for a democrat presidential candidate, looking at the last seven democrat candidates, prior to the elections. To say he shares "some" of the blame for the post-Katrina debacle is like saying the driver of the car in a one-car crash is "somewhat" responsible for the damage to his car. This guy was elected by the people of New Orleans to be their "leader" in a time of crisis. Anyone giving him a pass, even a partial pass, explains why there are so many incompetent and corrupt career politicians. Did he fail or not? OK, others failed also. Did HE fail, or not?
GenghisTheHun 10/22/2005
He was tried and found wanting. If anyone is left to vote this spring, he has some things to explain.
Redoedo 10/22/2005
Shares some of the blame for the unfathomable failure in both the preparation and response stages to Katrina. Clearly has some explaining to do.

New Orleans...politician....GOP turned Democrat... 'nuff said. To his supporters, he'll come out of this smelling like a rose.
