I actually was on that vessel for couple of times as a kid, back in the days when she was a "Silja Star"(Who ever wrote that Wikipedia article has something mixed up. I checked old photos, and in them I, (10-years at most) am standing on the deck next to a life buoy which says "Silja Star") What I can recall, she was nice and cozy vecicle, though lacking the sheer size, comforts and services of "Europa" and "Symphony". That day on September 1994, was rainy, grey, bleak and got worse during the afternoon when I heard what had happened. I attended some silly joga-lesson with my mom and most attendants were in tears. Most of the passengers were either in their cabins or having nice time on the upper decks when she rapidly fell over. Those poor bastards, drowning inside a small box or in a cramped, panical stairwell is lousy way to go.

I think it is incredible that in these modern times, such a disaster could happen on a modern ship. The ferry was running from Tallinn to Stockholm and the front door, where the cars drive in, failed. The water rushed in and the ship foundered. The sea is unforgiving!
