I have never, ever, had a decent experience at one of these restaruants. Staff has been very low quality, and the food has been horrible! Just horrible! Terrible red skinned mashed potatoes, terrible herbed chicken on the light fare menu, terrible steaks!.......just really awful tastes. I'd go to T.G.I. Friday's anyday over this place! Do not know what herb or seasoning they use in their foods, but it is overwhelming and takes over their dishes! Even their broccoli is horrible. Imagine that...? I Just don't understand!

Two words: Gross GROSS GROSS ok so it one word repeated three times.location to avoid. Take your business elsewhere.Applebee’s5678 S Redwood RoadTaylorsville, UT 84123(801) 963-5100History: I stopped going to this applebees in 2008 for a simular issue, we ordered a mexican dish (ya make sense at a American food chain), it was covered in plastic and stuck in the microwave to melt the cheese, well the cheese was aslo glad wrap that melted on the plate when they removed the entire meal from the broiler with half melted cheese! hello a hot plate will melt skin and plastic you dipshits. This location has poor kitchen staff on a slow night, tonight 9-11-2009 at 7:15 MST (-0700 GMT) I was served a RAW ‘med well’ steak, not to hard to fix I sent it back. I then ate the ribblets and had plastic from the basting brush it it, easy to fix you say, well when my steak returned I cut it in half to make sure it was cooked and viola another piece of the brush. it was in the meat, not on top of it. The manager needs to do a few things to fix this type of mistake that costs them customers and bad press. * Speak english * Learn how to instruct the kitchen staff. I sure can grill without that stuff falling on my food. * Speed the customer out the door when they ask you to hurry with the check. * Expect to get pwnd on the internet. * Shut up and listen to the customer.

This is the most horriblest of the restaurants. Even the name, Applebee's. That is a horrible restaurant name. I don't know why, the people are unfriendly, the place is dirty, the food is horrid and what more can I say besides this is the restaurant that is on the very bottom of my list.

I've dinned at quite a few Applebee's restaurants over the years, especially the Newark, DE site. About five years ago, the food quality of the Applebee's chain was what most came to expect of sit down service, good quality and reasonably priced. However, with the growth of any chain and expectations of faster service, the quality has diminished. The food costs went up, and the food is now prepackaged. I recall my last two visits to Applebees, I had the orange chicken, it was rubbery and had my guest an I running for the bathroom after we ate. The greens were soggy, the rice undercooked, and more than likely my chicken too. This didn't prevent me from weekly stops in to grab spinach artichoke dip for movie nights. Unfortunately, the last visit and last batch of dip contained a fried cockroach in my chips. My advice, go support the local business in your area. Go to a nice ma and pa sit down restaurant where everything isn't rushed like chain restaurants and hopefully the food is of better quality.-Ericka

The ONLY thing I will order at Applebee's is the Shrimp and Parmesan Sirloin. I've gotten it at multiple locations all over the country and it is consistently good.Anything else is not worth it. And the desserts are crap. Drinks are waaaay overpriced. They used to have some great things on their menu, like chicken pot pie with a salad and chicken parmesan. I really wish they would bring those back. Now everything is so similar, and the menu feels really limited.

I recently interviewed for a bartending job with Applebees. The general manager who conducted my interview was a misogynist and a pop psychologist who informed me that while I had a good personality, my "appendages" were not big enough, meaning, of course, my breasts. I also had my red hair criticized. Apparently Applebees prefers to hire blonds, when they can. I was also informed by the GM that I have no self confidence, referring to me as "mousy" at one point. Anybody who knows me is aware this is a ridiculous statement and an unfounded assumption. This GM just views women as inferior to himself and his "intellect". I have been bartending for 8 years. It is how I paid for my Bachelor's degree and how I am paying for my Master's degree. Never in the last eight years of dealing with the bar and nightclub world I have left an interview so insulted and degraded as a woman. That is saying alot due to the sexist nature of the entire industry. I will never set foot in an Applebees ever again and I will not miss it because their food is horrible.

Every Applebees is different, but the one near me in Bonney Lake, WA REALLY sucks. The baskets that my food came in last week were rusting and NASTY. The red plastic was peeling off everywhere.Search Google Pictures for "Nasty Applebees Basket"The food is crap about 50% of the time.I tend to just order deep fried food or burgers because those are hard to screw up.

Applebee's is my favorite place to go with friends. Their menu has a lot of variety and it's a relaxed, fun atmosphere.Sometimes, I think their french fries are WAY overseasoned. So salty my tongue starts to hurt. I was also upset when I realized that their desserts come in shot glasses now... I don't know if it's even possible to get a piece of cake. It would come in a shot glass.
Biscuithead 04/08/2009
Eatin' good in the neighborhood. What neighborhood are they talking about?? Not mine, for sure!

I have eaten at two different Applebee's in my home town. Both were lunch meals and they were good but neither was memorable. Nice decor and decent service. They have a few menu items for dieters which pleases my wife.

I really enjoy applebees... it's not a 5star restaurant but its a great place to get wings and chicken fingers and burgers... not to mention that their mashed potatoes are the best!i only have one problem with Applebee's regarding their 2fers. I went their one night before 10:00pm and ordered a Vodka/Tonic. it came in a nice big glass... after 10:00 pm i ordered another vodka/tonic and this time the waitress told me it's 2fer... so i was excited. then she brought me my drink. i received 2 vodka tonics in a glass the size of a shot glass! really????

Applebee's is bad. The only time I go is when I get sucked in to going with friends. This happens after I complain about it and mention how there are better local restaurants nearby. The food is bad. There are few food and drink specials. The alcohol is overpriced, even for a restaurant. I bought a bottle of Lenienkugels at Applebee's and it cost $4.50. As it is, that is expensive for a restaurant. But the blow to my wallet did not stop there. That price did not inlcude tax. That brought it to nearly $5! The, I had to add a tip. If I went to a bar I could have spent $4.50 on the same bottle Leninkugels including a $1 tip. I don't regret much in life. The things I do regret are little things. Eating and drinking at Applebee's is one things. If you want to satisfy a group of friends, I am sure you can find a local restaurant that has better food and prices.
OceanSoul 11/11/2008
All of the bar and grill franchises are about the same: Applebee's, Friday's, Chili's etc. They aren't a great value and the food isn't as exciting as the commercials. Their strength is being reliable and consistent. The only one that I consider noticeably worse than the rest is Ruby Tuesday's.
npratt 10/16/2008
I ate there last night for the first and last time. I ordered the salmon and it tasted fishy. I told the waiter and his response was: "isn't fish supposed to taste fishy." What a jerk! This was the worst food and service I've ever had at a restaurant. STAY AWAY!!!
Aliveosirus 08/15/2008
Indeed applebees is horrible but it is always not the workers it has to do sometimes with brainless coustomers who would go to a restaurant when they are on a hour to 1 1/2 hour wait.If you are a paying coustomer and want to enjoy your meals show up when they are less busy. Same idea with any chain restaurant the busier they are the less attention is put into a single order, especially when they are trying to feed a full restaurant. In my exsperiences to many people chose to go to a busy restaurant and exspect their food to be perfec, well..... if thier was anything i could say to make it sound better i would but it's not going to happen. Plus from what i have seen the cook's arent the best choice of staffing many witch are criminals, Sex offenders, and drugies. the Waitstaff is medeoker and have little knowledge on how a true resaraunt works, If you enjoy waiting 30 min when you get your food to ask one of the waitstaff for another drink or so on then this is the restaurant for you. One of the only thing that appeals to the applebees customers is the cheap booze $2.75 for a 16.0z beer but take in mind what you may experience if thier is a game on televison..(not the so called perfect family enviroment).

I absolutely LOVE applebees. My dance team goes there faithfully every thursday and most sundays after practice. We always go late and pretty close to closing and the servers never have an issue providing us great service from the time we walk in till the time we mozy on out. Not only do they provide great service, but the prices are AWESOME. Most of us are starving college students, so half-price appetizers are right up our alley (and portion size). But even still they have great deals all the time (i.e: 3 course meal, ultimate trio) Two thumbs WAY up!!! (by the way this is in Tacoma, WA on 72nd & Hosmer.. we love Brandi!!! She's the best server)
DeFran2 06/04/2008
Their menu and quality have really gone down in the past 3 or 4 years.

i work at applebees and i dread going there... for the main reason, the pay is crap the food is crap the managers are crap its going down hill i would tell anyone not to work/eat there if you eat there... you have no clue whats going on in the kitchen do you think that applebees have the top chef of that city working there? No way the cooks are guys who have to work or they have to stay in jail all day. food is plain awful maybe apple bees is good somewhere else but certainly not Goergia

Average to below-average pub fare that has become slighty overpriced- and the service really varies (obviously) depending on where you are. . .a mixed bag at best and I only go here as a last resort while travelling. . .
meg10222 01/13/2008
I would go here for the honey barbeque boneless ribs alone, they are excellent. The menu has a variety of foods I enjoy, and I never leave hungry.

I have worked at Applebees for two and a half years. I am appreciative that they have employed me and worked around my schedule while I am in college, however, this restaurant is quickly going downhill. Our managers, minus some exceptions over the years, have been downright unfit to manage McDonalds. Our current hostesses tell customers that "we don't be double seatin' round here." Not only are the hostesses completely incompetent but they also cost us money. Our cooks are just complete crap. They are slow and hate their lives or something. I have never worked in a restaurant where the cooks have been so hateful and rude. Outback Steakhouse was ten times better and a lot cooler. We also got this new spokesperson, Wanda Sykes. I can not stand this woman because her voice and humor irritate me incredibly. Our new uniforms blow and our new 3 course menu is a real pain. We actually have to make the deserts. When I have five tables the last thing I want to do is make a desert. This is a prime example of the sub par leadership at Applebees. Just as an example...Say you have five tables, roughly ten people get the three course combo...If you have been double or triple seated and even if not, this means that you are going to take a good chunk of time and concentration on making the deserts for the ungrateful people. Not only that, but you have to watch for 30 different items to go out just for ten people. This isn't completely blown out either. I had eight people order that 3 course combo within fifteen minutes the other night. So, not only am I now dealing with rude people, rude cooks, a high expo, incompetent managers (sometimes),but I also have to prepare their food myself. Basically this means I have to take on a huge responsibility to make your food good. Next time you eat at Applebees or any other restaurant, cut your server a break...Most of the time they do not want to serve you or talk to you...From my exprience people are not enjoyable and I just want to get them out of there. Remember that the server is just that...Wise up people..We are just a link in the chain and do not oversee the complete production of your Applebees food. I really do think it is time for me to move to a different restaurant. Applebees just irritates me these days. They have changed too much and in the process ruined this chain. For the most part our food does suck, but I think people are a little too hard on the food. It is not overpriced, it is worth what you are paying for.

The only word I can think of to describe this place is "CRAPTASTIC" (i.e., if you like to eat dog $hit and be treated like dirt, then you should feel right at home). Dallas has some amazing local restaurants. I am so ashamed that I decided go to Applebee's tonight instead.
irishgit 10/12/2007
I've only been in one of these. It's near the home field of my son's baseball team and we sometimes go after games. The food's decent, if nothing imaginative, my kid can come in wearing his cleats and jersey and I can get a beer. It's no place I'd go on a regular basis but its passable if not great.
caphillsea77 10/12/2007
The epitome of mediocre chain restaurant food. I'm visualizing the delivery trucks unloading the frozen Stoufers entrees into this joint.
uncnc08 10/12/2007
Chili's is a better choice,to me this place is overrated,in my hometown, the menu seemed to be extremely limited. I have not been here in a few years so things have changed.
crapplehaters 09/12/2007
Simply the worst of the worst of casual dining chain establishments. I am friends with one of the local managers who has advised me to steer clear of the chemical-laden processed garbage they pawn off as food. Just the house sirloin steak alone has an ingredient list a mile long. It's supposed to just be a steak! Stay away and stay healthy!
sickofrudepeop le 09/04/2007
Applebee's is just another restaurant, like any other food chain out there, there are bad servers and there are good servers. Sometimes the food is pretty good other times it sucks, it just depends which Applebee's you decide to go to. What really surprises me is that Applebee's is just as busy as any other restaurant no matter where you live and people complain about everything from the food to the service to the drinks, but they still go to Applebee's...I guess it isn't that bad after all. Maybe people should not be so rude when they go out to eat and they may find that the service that they get is far better than they expected. Respect for others, acknowledging your server as a person and not just some dung on the bottom of your shoe, and maybe a smile or two before you leave and you might be shocked at how you are treated.
POOPYCOLON 08/13/2007
Everything on the menu tastes the same.....awful! I swear they don't put tequila in their margaritas and I won't even mention what I think they put in the spinach dip.
Twitchin' Monkey 08/06/2007
good, but chili's is much better.
Astromike 08/06/2007
I simply LOVE this place! Almost everything on the menu is delicious, and they have rather large servings for your buck. Very casual atmosphere too.

Should be called Crapplebee's. I've never had a meal there that seemed worth the money.
liljessjess 04/22/2007
How are there so many existing Applebee's restaurants when I've never eaten anything there that I liked?
jimmil 03/30/2007
If there was a zero star I would have chosen that. Applebees was at the bottom of my list for 10 years. My wife finally argued me into giving it another try as she for some unknown reason loves their salad. I tried it atgain ordering the French Onion soup (evreything else on the menu made me want to gag) thinking who could screw that up? Well, Applebees can. I will never go there again.
ivytheplant 01/06/2007
I don't think Applebee's can do anything right. Except suck. How can anyone screw up chicken alfredo so consistently? It's not hard. Chicken, pasta, alfredo sauce. I could make better alfredo out of those dry mix packets. I hate salt, but had to load down my plate with salt and pepper and I still couldn't taste anything. Well, except for the chicken, which was akin to charcoal briquettes rubbed in pig fat. And that was positively delicious compared to the travesty of a salad my husband ordered.
ZIPPY57 11/21/2006
Absolute crap. Extremely low end quality. I've been to three different locations, and all three served the same tastless crap. If you were lucky it was tastless. Some in our party found the food offensive. Who the the hell goes to these places and keeps them in business?
foodyal 11/12/2006
One of the worst meals I have ever had, salty, could not finish. Quality control is not something they worry about. I tried to provide comments at their website, but they it so difficult to provide comments, I don't think they really care what people think. If they advertise enough and get enough new people coming in, they don't have to worry about people coming back.
BlessedBeSiame se 08/22/2006
My Grandma loves this place and that is the only reason I ever go there. I do not care for them at all. The menu is not very good, the service is not so great, and I am not a big fan of their food.
AshleyAnne56 06/23/2006
It's okay, but it's all frozen food, and nothing that you can't make yourself, or buy in the frozen food isle, at your supermarket.
rlt530 03/29/2006
I've eaten at several Applebee's. I always used to like their food. Recently I've had two very poor meals. I ordered a sirloin the last time and I think I'd rate it a 3 on a scale of ten. I was not expecting anything wonderful-I know it is a chain restaruant but it tasted like they put smoke flavoring on it. Stay clear of the burgers if you go there. You're better off finding a local sports bar if you want a decent one.
frogger20190 03/29/2006
Ughhhh.....for some reason, just driving by one of these joints makes me queasy. Too many bad experiences (mostly with food) at this place. Never again.
Dawna 03/26/2006
Applebee's is great. I took 4 friends and all of us loved our meals! We started out with the Spinach& Artichoke Dip and followed that with our entree's. I had the Chicken Fried Steak, my friends had Crispy Buttermilk Shrimp, the House Sirloin, the Rio Rancho Sirloin, the Honey Grilled Salmon. All of it was fantastic. Our server was very attentive, always refilling drinks and always had a smile on her face. Upbeat dining, great prices, great food and friendly service, you can't ask for more.

Just too much prepared and frozen food.
