There are great bars and there are shitty bars. Some of the best ones in my experience have been the taverns in ski towns where on any given night 80% of the crowd is from out of town and high on life from the mountain air. Also, the patrons have taken leave of their normal life, aren't looking at their credit card balances and are there to have fun.

Great now that bars in my home state are smokeless. Not really intoxicated, but a few great craft beers with some friends is very pleasant. Many of the best fine beers can only be found on tap at a bar or tavern. Many fine breweries don't bottle every beer they brew. There are a lot of small batch and special release beers that are keg only.

There was a time not too long ago,I visited clubs every saturday night,and I still enjoy going to clubs if Im out of town and want to check out the music in a certain club,I have to say i'm just not cut out for going every single night of the week like a lot of my friends.
